Or "Soft DK," which I had on tap at Sessions in Greensboro recently. And it kicked my ass in the very best way, so a bottle had to be found, and here it is.

Frickin' gorgeous, with a smooth mocha/tan head, which doesn't last long, but consider the ABV. Liquid is as opaque and ebony as it could be.

Stellar aroma, equal parts gooey chocolate, medium-roast coffee, anise, vanilla, peppermint and alcohol.

Oh yum. Oh hell yeah yum. Tons of flavor here: a distinctive peppermint sort of vibe gives Soft DK an edge over others of its type. And that goes incredibly well with the other main aspect of the taste, the immensely chocolate flavor. There's also a touch of coffee and anise here, while alcohol merely lights a nice little fire under everything to keep it warm. It reminds me of Southern Tier's Choklat infused with mint. I suppose it's the hops and alcohol that combine to give it this minty aspect that I'm noticing. Whatever it is, it's working wonders.

Super-soft texture, which is made of lots of tiny bubbles that caress rather than tickle, and a lighter-than-expected body that is thankfully not at all thin. But you'd expect something thicker.

I see (and smell, taste and feel) nothing to dislike here. This is a fantastic stout, which could have been called Smooth Operator, as classy and silky and seductive as it is. My first meeting with Evil Twin, and most definitely not my last.

A: Ruby black, quite thin and lightly carbonated - small, dark tan head that reduces quickly to lacing

S: Chocolate and vanilla, semi-sweet. Some prickly alcohol.

T: Burst of vanilla though not overpowering, some chocolate and woody notes, and quite a bit of alcohol heat towards the finish. Also kind of earthy.

M: Not thick, but still pretty creamy. Low carbonation works just fine with the flavours.

O: A solid RIS base with a boost by way of not-overpowering vanilla flavour. Personally, I could have actually went for a slight bit more sweetness though I hesitate to say that, as I wouldn't want it to become dessert-sweet.

500ml bottle purchased from Slowbeer in Melbourne by Sam, who I shared it with, along with Rich.

Pours a deep, fluid brown-black with a loose-bubbled head of pale brown that only really settle as coagulation, not as a truly retentive crest. Body is surprisingly light, I'd say disappointingly so, although the carbonation is very pleasantly fine.

Nose is very pleasant: big chocolate notes with a hint of cherry, vanilla biscuits and a toasty undertone. Slight booziness, a touch of caramel. There's lots here, but it's all based on similar characters. If it had even just a little contrast it would be magnificent.

Pleasant, full sweetness on the palate, but without much in the way of body or feel. Clean clinging bitterness on the back: again slight suggestions of cherry or kirsch and a roasty bitterness giving slight tannins and a medicinal finish.

Feel is definitely pretty thin, although the sweetness in the flavour masks this somewhat.

Overall, this is good: definitely an entry in the sweeter end of imperial stouts. I did enjoy it, but because of the slightly medicinal finish and the slight lack of body, it didn't really go the distance.

Pours a soild black with a lovely tan head.

Smells is sweet malts, chocolate and vanilla come though real stong.

Tastes is sweet, lots of richcholate and vallia tastes like a fine dessert, got even more chocolate as it warmed up little to know hops
verry sweet but not annoyingly so.

Very drinkable the sweetness hides the booze well, i loved every sip of this, it just kept geting better.
