Notes/Commercial Description:
This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

"The first batch made of this was in fact 10% abv. That batch was made last winter and only sold in europe. I then changed the recipe to 8% to lighten it and make it easier to drink. That is what the beer will be from now on and the bottles in the US are the 8% version."

A: Pours a very hazy dark orange to copper in color. The beer has a finger tall white head that is made up of large bubbles and reduces to a thick film covering the entire surface of the beer with a medium sized thick patch and a thick ring near the edges of the glass. Moderate to significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: The aroma is pretty strong and dominated by the citrus hop presence - grapefruit is the dominant hop with a lighter amount of orange as well.

T: Moderate caramel malt sweetness with a very strong flavor of citrus hops - grapefruit and orange are both present. Light amounts of lingering bitterness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light dryness in the finish.

O: Very enjoyable and a great combination of different citrus hop flavors and smells. Easy to drink and one I would love to have some more glasses.

A: The beer is very hazy yellowish orange in color. It poured with a half finger high dense off white head that hardly died down.
S: There are aromas of citrusy hops in the nose—grapefruit seems to stand out in particular with some notes of orange.
T: Like the smell, the taste is dominated by flavors of citrusy hops but also has a noticeable presence of underlying caramel malts, especially given its high alcohol content. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has nice hop aromas and flavors but is easy to drink because the alcohol is well hidden and it isn’t overly bitter.

A - Nice retention and lace on a white head. Mixed bubble structure. Opaque body with chunky sediment even after giving it a few days to rest.

S - Smooth pine, spruce, thyme, and floral hops with an apricot sweetness.

T - Orange and apricot open for a bright bitter center of herbal and woody hops. Sweet honey finish with a lingering bitter character.

M - Full to style with nice carbonation.

O - Aggressively bitter with a profile that complements it beautifully.

500ml bottle into a tulip glass. There was a bottled on date perhaps but it was mostly rubbed off.

Appearance: Poured a slighty hazy and glowing orange with a big two finger white foamy head. Excellent retention and lacing all the way down.

Aroma: Grapefruit citrusy hops. Some piney resin. Mostly dominated by the tropical fruit aromas.

Taste: Grapefruit-y and tropical hops bitterness. Slight sweetness. A touch of pine resin. Some biscuit malts for a little balance. Pretty good.

Mouthfeel: Medium body and carbonation. Lingering grapefruit citrus bitterness. Easy and tasty. Would be enjoyed by any hop head.

Outstanding beer here. Had this on tap at the local Craft Beer bar. Listed as a double IPA but it has a name like a Christmas Ale. 8% abv makes this one a good sipper. Great Orangish red color with a dense thick head with plenty of retention. This brew leaves some great notches down the glass with every sip. Fruity aroma with notes of citrus and pine needles are very pleasant. Matches the flavor very well, tastes like it smells and has an awesome pine/grapefruit hop profile. The malts balance the bitterness perfectly with notes of caramel and grass. I'm in love with this one and Evil Twin is quickly becoming one of my favorite breweries.

Don't let the name fool you, Evil Twin Before, During and After Christmas is not a winter warmer full of cinnamon and nutmeg, it's a monster Double IPA.

You'll know before the first sip from the hazy orange color, creamy white head, and huge hops aromas. Hops dominate the flavor, too. Lots of pine and citrus. A hint of caramel and bread. Outstanding lacing. Fantastically bitter, too. I wasn't able to find an IBU rating, but it would not surprise me if this is 100+.

If you like bruising IPAs, seek this one out!

A-slightly orange straw color with a thin but solid head

S-grapefruit upfront with some faint pine resin in the background.

T-no doubt its an IPA, nice combination of citrus hop with pine like hops and a good does of caramel maltiness to retain balance.

M-a good rich mouthfeel with good balance especially for an IPA, solid drying from the hop bitterness and a lingering aftertaste that is downright awesome.

O-A great IPA, not over the top hops but definitely not lacking a quality representation of the style.

A 500 mL bottle from The Wine Source. In a mini tulip.

A: The DIPA is a hazy orange, glowing a bit at the base of the glass. Looks like a golden barleywine, meaty, in my glass. The ale generates a white head, over two fingers, that laces nicely. Plenty of legs left behind in my glass.

S: Soft citrusy hops, resiny but not too strong. Grapefruiit, lemons, and pineapple are strong, matched with pepper and oranges. The tropical fruits get wrapped up with the alcohol, a formidable pairing. As an IPA, I really dig it.

T: Caramel and biscuit malts, resiny sweet hops, mild alcohol (notwithstanding the nose). The hops drip with citrus: grapefruit and lemons, tropical from mid-sip through to the end. The sweetness of the hops is deceiving, not bitter in the least. Instead, sugary sweetness, a little something extra no doubt, takes the edge off of the hoppiness. Lush citrus is a lasting flavor, bitter but not blindingly so. The sediment-laiden last sips are rich with caramel, biscuit and hops.

M: A deceptively mild double IPA. Citrus is plentiful but never too strong. Damn, I'm really digging this one.
