Poured from a 330ml bottle. Pours a cloudy orangey red colour with a little thin, off-white head. The nose is pretty distinctive. There's lots of big citrus hop notes as well as a strong scent of fresh squeezed fruit juice. For a hopped-up, high ABV brew, this beer is very drinkable. There's definitely a grapey flavour in there. but it blends remarkably well with whatever hop varieties were used to make this. There's also a nice persistent bitterness on the palate. For such a unique beer, it is surprisingly cohesive and coherent.

Tried this last year on tap at a local beer bar, but it was a hazy night so glad to have the opportunity to try it again
A - ridiculous carbonation make this impossible to pour, or a least requiring a lot of patience, but finally appears to be a mildly cloudy cedar colour
S - peppery and sweet with touches of caramel and dark toast
T - significant caramel and nutty maltiness quickly backed up by peppery earthy hops
M - crazy how the alcohol is masked here, relatively lights and easy drinking, slight bitter, leaves your insides warm and toasty
O - the anticipation of the slow staged pour was worth it, very big and balanced while remaining easy drinking and complex, bravo

Recently stumbled across my notes from The Festival 2012. Lets do this!

A - Poured a cloudy orange hue with a thin white head. Nice nice retention here.

S - Aroma has lots of nice orange and grapefruit, gentle chardonnay barrel notes as well. Very pleasant and inviting.

T - Taste is right up there with the nose, though the hops are a bit fainter. Getting flashes of stone fruit though oddly enough, must be from the barrel. Good vinous notes too.

M - Mouthfeel was just over carbonated. Really a shame.

O - Overall, a nice beer. Like the white wine notes here and how it interplays with the hops. Really solid.

Poured into a Dogfish Head pint glass. Pours a dark, cloudy chestnut brown-amber. Bottle was a slow gusher, leaving a massive, coarse off-white head that dissipated quickly to a thin, uneven head with lots of chunky lacing. Intriguing, but confusing aroma of vinous grape juice, caramel malt, oak, hints of vanilla and hops. Flavor is rather subdued compared to the aroma, with mild vinous grape juice and must, bready and light caramel malt; earthy with hints of oak. Finishes with bittering hops and residual vanilla, dark malt and oak. Medium bodied with a pleasant mouth feel. I'm not normally a big fan of wine barrel aged beers, but the vinous influence on this one was nicely balanced with interesting oaky malt and hops. Very little herbal hop flavor, but this find of a lone bottle could have sat on a shelf for a while. This barreled beer is otherwise none the worse for the further aging. An off-beat and interesting aged ale that is at the outer fringes of the American IIPA category.
