Appearance – Pours a dark orange amber color with a nice white head and thick, wet lacing that quickly slides down the glass.

Smell – There’s a sweet maltiness here, which I really like. Has a light pine and lemon scent; not overdone like many California DIPAs. Some floral notes with a touch of honey.

Taste – Malt, pine, honey and a hops. I like that this doesn’t have an overpowering hoppiness to it.

Mouthfeel – Medium carbonation, some bitterness, and smooth. The 10% abv is amazingly well hidden.

Drinkability – One of the better IPAs I’ve had. Not overly hoppy, with a touch of malt that definitely works.

Pours a orangy color with good clarity and a soft white head. Good retention and ok lacing through out the tasting.

Hop forward aroma with good west coast citrus and orange notes. Minor pineapple and herbal notes. Some caramel notes from the grain. Light yeast note that is a touch distracting.

Flavor is right on par with a good hop note. The citrus and orange really come out with more grapefruit flavors. Bitterness has a nice balance and lingers into the finish. There is an odd caramel note on the back end but overall great balance.

The body is moderate with a good carbonation backing. Some astringency from the hops that linger. Overall a really nice DIPA.

Pours a one finger off-white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving a good lace. Cloudy amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light grapefruit hop nose and flavor has enough caramel to offset the grapefruit hops. Decent Imp IPA. High ABV is hidden. Could have waited until 2015 for this but its very good now. $7.70 for a 330ml bottle from Tully's Beer & Wine Wells, Me.

Update 9/2013 12oz bottle brewed in Stratford, CT, seems to have more grapefruit and less caramel. and it is $4.99 from Julio's Liquors Westborough, MA.

another high alcohol hop bomb from the evil twin crew. this its a monster of an ipa, pours a thick sticky honey color with not much head, patchy lacing is really all, despite a rather aggressive pour. the nose is dank and in the west coast style, with more oily sticky hop presence. I smell some sweetness too, but somehow its a hoppy sweetness. the flavor is real bold and heavy hops, but they don't seem particularly unique to me. not sure the varietals here, but nothing stands out as fruity or piney or any other common hop family descriptor. some honey type sugars in the finish, and of course quite a bit of booze, especially once it hits room temp. a four pack provides about two appropriate servings. this stands out to me as an art form than some of the other evil twin beers, perhaps because of how heavy it is, thick almost, and a bit laborious to consume. still, excellent mix of flavors and a worthy buy for the lover of big hop beers.

12oz bottle 5/8/13 bottling date into a snifter.

pours a copper color with a nice head. appropriate and typical ipa pour. the smell is of grapefruit / citrus fruits with a good amount of hops, but not overwhelmingly so. taste is also full of grapefruit and citrus, ends dry and quite bitter. no sweetness at all to this IPA. drinkability is alright, real bitter so you know what youre getting into to. full bodied.

overall a good IPA, not great.

OK, I bought a bottle of Yin and one of Yang. I will try them separately and then together, but I am thinking separate will be the better.

It's a huge brew, but not too thick. It pours like it knows that it has a ton of ingredients in it. Hops, of course, but tons of malt too. The color is typical as is the aroma for a huge double (triple?).

The taste is right where it should be. It is over the top hoppy yet full of malts to "balance" it. It can handle the malt nicely. You will not forget that you are drinking a monster brew. The booze is prominent in the taste and the aftertaste.

This is worth buying again.

Served in a snifter glass.

Appearance: Slight hazy body due to the heavy bubbles comin off amber with a white head riding I maybe 1/2" off the body.

Smell: floral scent that is very pleasing. It's strong but leaves you hanging a bit wanting a little more.

Taste: Oh so bitter, strong woody and piney feel with a mess hops that is very very strong. As I get towards the end of the glass and the beer warms up that is when you will really like it at its best.

Mouth: Without a doubt heavy carbonation. I do give this brew respect with its subtle stickiness.

Overall: I took chance on this brewery and beer and there is definitely room for improvement. I mean it was good but there is so much out there considering how you're paying per bottle or 4-pack that you buy. I will give some of Eviltwin's other DIPAs a shot, because I know there's potential. Salud!

Good head from the bar pour (into a tulip glass). Great ring lace that leaves a blanket in many areas. Cloudy liquid with a dark amber/light brown color (light passes through easily).

Very well-balanced for the style. The use of crystal malt is evident in the nose. While the hop is certainly present, it does not dominate.

Quite sweet but still holds true to its IPA roots. It is not sugary; it's just that the malt really stands out. The bitterness comes through late--well after the swallow. The aftertaste certainly demonstrates the hop presence, lasting a very long time. In a word: Complex. The body and carbonation are true to what one would expect.

This could easily be one of my "desert island" beers.
