Bottled 2/14/13.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace slowly drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus zest, grapefruit juice, and alcohol. Taste is much the same with caramel and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a high amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good that is tasty but strong and very bitter.

A: Copper orange, very clear.

S: Citrus, grass, typical hop aromas.

T: Starts off with some unexpected malt sweetness. Hops jump in midway through, With a very clear piercing sort of bitterness. There's a sort of earthiness to the aftertaste.

M: Moderate, fairly frothy carbonation.

O: a decent double IPA, Not bad but nothing to write home about.

If IPA's are supposed to the beer most lopsided type of beer where balance is concerned, then this beer does its part by propelling hop bitterness and suppressing malt sweetness like very few have. Evil Twin really knows how to make a hoppy beer.

Yang pours with a dense visual texture- coppery-amber hues are heavily hazed and is a testament to the beer's unadulterated, unfiltered character. A thick blanket of foam rises to top the beer like meringue. Ivory white in its color, the beer shows tremendous staying power and laces with well defined rings with each sip.

Deep aromas of citrus fruit, tropical fruit, and botanical herbs create a highly floral bouquet that dances upon a caramelly, biscuity, malty stage. A tinge of alcohol tickles the nose and then fades back into the sharp hop notes.

Malt sweetness rushes onto the tongue to buffer it from the massive hop flavors to come. Understated firmness of biscuit malt, honey, and caramel provides the supple support for more aggressive flavors of grapefruit peels, orange zest, fresh cut grass, chives, and light cannabis to pierce the malts and gain command of the overall flavors. More mellow pineapple and melon flavors follow along with the growing bitterness that leads to a heavy pith and resin intensity that grips the back of the throat. Alcohol flavors hide behind the hops and sparsely shows its strength- dangerous for the beer's drinkability.

Again, the firm malt underpinnings show a stern creamy weight in mouthfeel as well. But like in taste, the malt structures soon quiver and fall apart- leaving the strong drying compounds of hops to refresh the palate and provide a high rate of drinkability. Warm but not hot, the beer concludes with mild leaf astringency and an echo of caramel and bread.

The long lingering bitterness begins to showcase the hops more like classic American IPA, but with its elevated strength, this hoppy side of karma is ideal for an Imperial Black & Tan.

Pours a cloudy dark amber, one finger thick dense white head, settles to a thin ring, with a few dots of lace on the glass. Smell: apricot, white grape, sugar soaked grapefruit. Taste: sweet but with a nice bitterness throughout... dried stone fruit, candied citrus peel, fading into herbal notes with lingering sweetness, citrus, and evergreen. Creamy feel into syrupy/sugary. It's good, but it doesn't distinguish itself.
