Thanks to BA smoked for hooking me up with the yin and yang pair of bottles. Poured from a 11.2 oz bottle into a tulip the brew appears a hazed copper color as it rests in my glass. When held to the light, it looks more deep orange with yellow and almost green hints around the edges. A finger of silky yellowish stained tan cap rests atop and as it fades leaves spotty and finger-like lacing effect.

The aromatics are pretty solid here with a big dank hop aspect. Very weedy and herbal that mixes to rinds and a bit of a floral touch. The more I smell this, the more sweet it gets with almost a candy-like accent upfront and caramel or toasty toffee grain is an afterthought. The alcohol isn't hiding when you take a deep whiff, it comes forward with almost a sting like perfume sprayed in the face.

Taking small sips reveals just what I expected. This DIPA has quite a bit of residual sugar hanging around. The first couple of sips are sweet and candy-like with a fruity to floral hop flavoring. As the palate becomes tuned in, the hop flavors mutate to more dank and herbal. Just like the nose indicated, the alcohol creeps in with a solvent burn across the back that drags all of the brighter fruity and floral hop characteristics into a realm of herbal and pitty to rindy bitter elements.

This is a medium to fuller bodied brew with a moderate amount of carbonation. I can't really speak for the freshness of this but it seems like it might have lost the edge that it would of had when it was fresh. Overall, not a bad offering but I could do without the sticky residual sweetness that at times is a bit too much.

11.2 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a miniminalistic head that reduced quickly to an outer rim of foam. It is an amber crimson color with some clarity and floaties that I was trying to avoid that are in the beer.

Smell: nice caramel and bready malts, citrus, tangerine, and graperfrut notes too. Some alcohol on the nose, but that is expected.

Taste: Everything you expect from the aroma with some bitterness and bozziness towards the end. Still very tasty.

Mouthfeel: smooth, full bodied, medium carbonation, easy to drink, a little boozy, some drynessm, and delicious.

Overall: A pretty standard DIPA from Denmark and happy to have added t to my lineup of delicious brews. Good to have gotten this bottle for a good price and can't wait to try out the second half to this black and tan.

Poured into a 13 oz tulip, best by 2015. Pours a reddish orange with a half inch of off white head, that leaves lace and lots of floaties. Smell is mango, tangerine, hard candy, and cut grass. Taste is really the same, very well balanced nothing seems to dominate, not sure how long they let this best by date go. Body is medium, plenty of carbonation, not dry, and easy drinking for its large ABV. This is good, wish I could have one fresher to see what the hops can be.

Pours a pretty copper with a thin head into my glass. More copper than I expected for the style. The bottle suggests making a "black and tan" with this and the Yin. I might just do that!

Lots of citrus, especially grapefruit from the hops. Otherwise, lots of alcohol and biscuity malt.

Boozy with a grapefruit kick. The malt underneath seems weak, barely registering on my scale.

Ditto for mouthfeel. Rather unflattering.

It seems to me like there are two different ways to do a DIPA: This way and the Heady Topper/Pliny/Double Sunshine way. This DIPA would lean more towards the English style of IPA than the American style. In a sense, it's accurate but not widely recognized by beer enthusiasts.

A: minimal head to speak of on a hazy amber with crimson hues body.

S: malty but very boozy with mild hops.

T: fairly malty with caramel and toasted malts. Hops are mostly candied fruits and sOme floral notes.

M: medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: malt forward IPA. fairly sweet. Not too memorable.
