$16 for a 16.9 oz bottle into a generic tulip glass

A - dark chestnut brown, minimal carbination, no head, no lacing

S - even before the pour the vinegar smell is present but not
overwhelming. Otherwise unremarkable.

T - very mellow for a sour. Once the initial sourness subsides its very stout like.

M - Flat

If you love sours steer clear of this it's not worth the price.

Pours a murky dark, but clear, red colour. Sudsy white head, not much to it at all. Not much lace. Nice colour but otherwise pretty meh.

Chocolatey and Belgian on the nose. Lots of dark fruit and pie/cake spice. Sultanas, dates, figs and nutmeg, cloves. Slight tart note, but all part and parcel of the fruity edge. Intriguing.

Sour, and burnt at times on the palate. Largely a wild yeast note, with characters of currants, black pepper, brown sugar and molasses as well. Clove is big, some carbon and mediciney notes. Weird, a little off-putting at times but there's enough there to like.

Fluid mouthfeel, but a bit thin and a little bite at the end. Don't love it.

Not for everyday drinking; has some nice elements but it doesn't quite have as much balance as others of the style I've had.

A - Dark brown with a bit of red mixed in and a thin finger of bubby off-white head. Fades quickly.

S - Sour cherries, some other dark fruits, some light funk, sweet caramel malts, some vanilla, a bit of oak, some acidity.

T - Sour cherries, dark fruit, vanilla, some funk, caramel malts, a bit of oak, some light funky yeast, some acidity.

M - Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Smooth with a sour finish.

D - A bit empty and rough. Needs a bit more depth and complexity for the style.

Poured a brown-ish color with no lingering head to Three Philosphers stemmed wear. Smell is pungently sour upon being poured, vinegar, red grapes, cherry and wood. I think the nose was my favorite part of this. The taste is obviously acidic, very sweet, cherries, red grapes, some oak tannins. the most off putting part is an almost ashtray like flavor, not a fan and very evident. Mouthfeel is like red wine like, minimal carbonation, almost flat like. I enjoy a lot of sours and I think one falls somewhere near the bottom in overall enjoyment.

poured into duvel tulip.

Appearance: medium brown bodied beer with a deep red hue when held up to light. 1 Finger of frothy thin white head that drops to a thin cap.

Smell: Big vinegar notes. Sour cherries. Musty oak barrels. Moderate funk. Yeah the vinegar is really powerful and a little distracting. Almost like a concentrated urine smell.

Taste: mildly sour cherries. Then it goes into a medicinal cough syrup type flavor. It finishes with a touch of vinegar, musk, funk, and oak. The cough syrup flavor ruins it for me in this beer.

Mouthfeel: high end of a light bodied beer almost a medium body. Moderate carbonation. Its drinkable and well carbonated, but its not going to make this beer much better.

Overall: Without the urine smell and the cough syrup taste... I think that this beer would be really good. The off flavors and smell really hurt this beer the most. I am not a huge fan, but to each his own. I would pass on this beer if I were you. Glad this was a bottle that was given to me, I might have gotten mad at myself if I had bought this beer.

Slightly hazy dark amber-red colour with a smooth, small, light tan head. Fair head retention.

Wonderful aroma of cherries and balsamic vinegar. Some Brett funk as well. Good.

Fruity with some plummy notes on the palate. Lots of acid that gets better as it warm. There is even a little bit of roasted malt here. The acid is quite harsh but on the whole it works for me.

Medium body with moderately-high carbonation. Fine.

A decent beer. I like the way the fruit comes together with the acid.

Bottle purchased from K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City, CA. Shared with @LaitueGonflable and @tobeerornottobe.

Pours a murky brown hue, with a filmy, acidic-looking head of mild white. Pretty thick body, especially for the style, and the carbonation almost remains static when tilted. Very fine, spotty lacing. Looks flat, thick and a little ominous.

Nose is oddly savoury. Speckled salt and pepper sit above a round balsamic acidity the tends towards sweetness. The sweeter body gives hints of cherries and geranium. Very odd, and a little bit unpleasant.

Taste is maybe a little better. Here there's a woody note, much like an aged balsamic vinegar, but without the biting, cutting tartness that follows. There's a hint of dark grains giving a touch of biscuity sweetness, and a true slightly lactic acidity on the back the sharpen it up. It's pretty odd, again, but it works slightly better here.

Overall, it doesn't really work. It has such weirdnesses to it that aren't integrated or explained with the other characters or as a whole. Probably one of my least favourite sours.

Flat Brown and murky. Standard for an Oud Bruin I guess.

Roasted malt, cocoa and vinegar on the nose. Hints of cola and brown sugar.

Dry up front with hints of milk chocolate. Loads of sour funk on the swallow. Tart with a gentle hint of hops and some dark roasted malt. Quite complex. The finish is tart with loads of lactose-esque milk chocolate. Its bizarre and delicious.

Feel is tangy but smooth.

I really am enjoying this. Its very unique.

500ml bottle. Flute glass. Enjoyed on dec´11. Bright brown copper. Slightly cloudy appearence. Beige quickly dissipated crown leaves a lasting collar. Fruity aroma with hints of green wood & white grape zest. Smooth acid upfront. Mildy toasted malt flavors with hues of cherries & red fruits. Light body, medium carbonation. Fruity finish & cask-wood notes. Well balanced flavors. Easy drinkability. Nice spot of the Style.

Served from bottle into a Mikkeller stemmed tulip. Poured a massively dark brown with a minimal off-white head. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, wood, vinegar, tart, and subtle fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, peat, dark fruit, tart, vinegar, and wood. It had a medium feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. I really have to be honest that I did not expect this one to have a peat characteristic in it. Usually I despise peat, but this one actually incorporates it fairly well with the tart/vinegar aspect going on. Really wish there were a little more sweetness going on in this one. Let this one warm up and the vinegar tone isn’t as abrasive, just a hint. Worth trying if you get the chance, but that’s about it.

Poured into a duvel tulip

A- pours deep brown with a touch of Mahogany, pours a film of a slightly off white head that disapates quickly.

S- vinegar, a hint of oaky earthyness, maybe a touch of caramel and chocolate, rotten cherry.

T- subtle cholalte, hints of cherry rot, working with oak , not intensely sour, all the flavors meld very nicley as this beer warms, like chocolate, red wine notes, dash of vinegar and wood. Touch of nuttyness in with the wood notes.

M- light/medium body with very low carbonation,
Not bad for the style, but it could have used a bit more.

O- a solid brew, the flavor profile is very nice, I wish some of the malts were a bit richer, but overall it is a good brew, I wish the price was a little lower, but worth trying
