330ml brown bottle purchased from Leura Cellars. Shared with Sam and Chris on a brewday.

Pours a lovely reddish amber colour, with a very fine bead to it. Head is an extremely fine gauze of off-white, pocked in places that leaves fine, intricate streaky lacing. Body has a bit of heft to it as well. Looks great.

Nose is awesome. Big, powerful, but extremely fresh US hops that give wonderfully clinging resin and citrus characters, but pinned down by a robust almost meaty malt character that adds weight and gravitas. The confluence is something semi-savoury, but still extremely bright fresh and delicious—it's almost the perfect aroma for a hop-forward amber ale.

Taste is lovely and light for the most part, with a clean, strident hop bitterness right through the centre. The malt is certainly lacking a little, leaving the beer craving a touch of sweetness, but it does provide a robust grain-forward character that balances the hops nicely. Feel has a fichness to it, but it still manages to stay fairly light. Nice stuff.

Overall, this is an absolutely cracking brew, and one of the best beers I've had from Evil Twin. It's also possibly one of the best American Amber Ales I've had. And I've had some awesome beers from both categories.

Been picking up a bottle of Evil Twin here & there since they randomly began showing up & I've been a bit underwhelmed to date. But hey, I like hops, let's try another. My glass is half-full. 12 oz. bottle.

Pour is a ruby orange with active carbonation & enough floaties to warrant a fine particle filter. The nose is, well, not there. Really. I can barely distinguish the air in the glass from the air floating all around me. Srs.

Hop Flood would be a great first beer when you got out of prison, or came out of a coma. Hop bitterness does indeed flatten the palate, but there's not much to back up that flattering first impression. Leafy hops, lingering aspirin, harsh bitterness. Took half of this small bottle from my wife & that's plenty.

A very one-note beer. The arms race that is ever-increasing IBUs has to have something to back it up, otherwise you may as well go lick a lemon, without the taste. Mediocre.

Poured into DFH footed pint glass; ruddy chestnut brown with a massive fluffy tan head that sticks around for a long time, and leaves great piebald lacing as it descends into a thick puck of foam topping.
Smells of crisp bitter piney and herbal hops, some citrus rind, and dry bread malt.
Taste follows nose very well; crisp pine and citrus rind hops mix very well with dry brown malt, bit of nuttiness.
Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied and crisp, semi-dry finish with lots of lingering bitterness.
Overall, this is definitely a surprise. I usually avoid brown ales because I find them boring and generally lacking in flavor, but this one is different. Lots of hop flavor that works very well with the malt.
