Notes/Commercial Description:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into an 18oz snifter.

Pours pitch black with a perfect, tight two finger milk chocolate colored head that shows no signs of disappearing quickly. Huge lacing down the glass.

On the nose is sweet chocolate, raisins, dark fruits, and some biscuit malt. Some rich roast coffee and burnt caramel. Very nice.

Wow. Just... Wow. As soon as the beer hits your tongue it's sweet milk chocolate and perfectly roasted fresh coffee. So inviting. No signs of alcohol at all. On second sip, I pick up some dark fruits, burnt caramel, and the bitterness from the coffee begins to creep across the pallet. As the beer opens up, some alcohol presents itself, but it doesn't overpower the beer at all.

Mouthfeel is rich and chewy. Really coats your mouth. Carbonation is surprisingly nice for a beer this big. It really is huge.

This is really such a great, great beer. Definitely worth seeking out and it's absolutely worth every penny. Definitely a new favorite and I will be drinking this again the next chance I get.

22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown/black with a medium creamy brown head that slowly goes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet fudgy chocolate with some roast, flowers and some tart fruit.

The flavor is sweet lactic chocolate with some roast coffee, vanilla, fruit and a fairly bitter finish. The alcohol is warming but not overbearing. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, it's OK. Too sweet and alcoholic for me. The floral fruitiness didn't mesh well with the roast chocolate to me.
