Notes/Commercial Description:
The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Poured into a tulip glass.

Look: Black as espresso beans, with a dark tan sponge-like head that recedes slowly to a wisp. Spots of lacing.

Aroma: Sweet cookie dough, biscotti, coffee, vanilla, alcohol.

Taste: Really sweet decadent coffee and cookies, with a lactose and sugar finish. But not cloying!

Mouthfeel: Silky, smooth, considering the ABV.

Overall: Absolutely delicious, goes down smooth and has amazing flavor and aroma.

Poured into a Reuben's Brew snifter. Pours pitch black, totally opaque in the glass with a thin dark brown head with light lacing. Aroma of sweet toasted malt, quality coffee and sweet cookie dough notes. Flavor is dense sweet dark malt, coffee, vanilla and a bit of cookie dough, very well melded into a rich coffee chocolate flavor. A nice hop bitterness with mild char in the finish. Great creamy body. More like a liqueur enhanced chocolate coffee shake than a beer, slightly on the sweet side, but flavorful enough that it was not a detractor. Dangerously drinkable. The high ABV was totally covered and this invited repeated tastes requiring pacing. A classic.

Poured from a bomber, best before 2015.

Thick and black as night into the glass. Head is only shades lighter than the body itself. 1-2 fingers max worth of foam. Aroma is mostly rich espresso coffee. Flavor is very strong coffee, velvety with mild bitterness. I honestly find that the flavor is not very expansive. Feel isn't right up there for an Imperial stout.

Honestly disappointed by this one. Expected more given the brewer but it falls short of what it could be.
