The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Tasted On: 09-14-2014
Freshness: Best before 2015
Packaging: 22 oz. brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Snifter
Purchased: Single from Liquor Barn, Bowling Green KY

The label says it was brewed and bottled at Westbrook Brewing in Mount Pleasant, SC

Appearance is a jet black beer with a finger and a half of tan head. Sticky lacing with a good level of retention.

Aromas have coffee, oak woodiness, licorice, vanilla, and dark fruits such as fig. Very impressive in the nose.

The taste is sweet and malty, plus some bitterness of French roast coffee. I also get alcohol warming and some whiskey notes.

Mouthfeel is thick and creamy on a heavy body. The finish has semisweet chocolate and light roasted coffee notes.

Big and bold, heavy beer. Very nice melding of coffee and chocolate. Best for slow sipping and sharing.
