The Roman Empire had a certain "je ne sais quoi" - festive food culture, extravagant architecture, and spectacular live entertainment. Some might argue the Emperors were brutal, mad, and hungry for power, and the people vain when taking baths and working out all day. Listen - that's still all part of the secret Imperial ingredient - keep it cool, clean, confident, arrogant, and flamboyant. Forza Imperiale.

Poured a 22oz into a goblet.

A: pours a real nice pitch black velvet with a sharp thin carbonation dissipating quickly. Pretty color on the head but quickly goes to a flat appearance. Not an issue. How I like my stouts.

S: Real nice coffee like fair trade. Bitter chocolate. Real clean. No off putting bitterness.

T: Amazing. Reminds me a lot of brunch weasel. The coffee is so clean and integrates well with the subtle chocolate. A lot of stouts I want bourbon barrel aged to hide some things or enhance. Not this guy.

M: Damn near perfect from start to finish. Long finish leaving u with a refined chocolate lingering non-syrupy feel. No alcohol burn.

Overall: Pretty shocked. Not expecting much thinking this was gonna be another marked up international offering that would rival a stone ris. Not the case here. Going back for more prob not to age though. One of those rare stouts I can't see barrel aging benefiting.

22oz into a tulip. Pours a deep viscous black w/ a reddish brown head. Beautiful.

Aroma is dark roasted malt, espresso, bitter chocolate. Rich, earthy, inviting.

Taste is big and robust; strong coffee, chocolate. Some caramel, vanilla and molasses.

Mouthfeel is thick and coating, slick. Not syrupy. Nice dry finish.

Overall an outstanding imperial stout, hits on all cylijnders.
