Poured from 11.2 oz bottle into gulden draak tulip at avenue pub, nola. Pours an oily thin tan head. Super viscous and oily. Pretty mild coffe, booze, and chocolate aromas.
Taste is really fantastic. Roasted malt but dark chocolate dominates. Some really nice tobacco and dried fruit notes with a great coffee bitter finish. Super boozeyAj almost cognac like. Its a bit bitter but really nice. Overall an amazing brew and I would highly recommend!!

This is one of those rare beers that is perfect form. The appearance is pitch black with a frothy milk chocolate colored head. The beer's taste and smell are quintessential dark chocolate bitterness. The mouthfeel is perfectly creamy and full until the finish, which rolls off with a very appealing astringency and ashiness. There's also a nice lightly sweetened oily espresso quality to the beer which is delightful. The aftertaste makes the beer a great slow sipper. Very good showing. Evil twin never ceases to satisfy. Could they be the masters of imperial stouts? Who the hell knows. Definitely try.

A strangely named beer, I think. I could understand "Even MORE... Jesus!" or "Even more, Jesus", but "Even More Jesus" is a name I'd like to get lectured on. But alright, whatever, fine, it's just a name. I got a bomber priced at a damn pricey $15.99... I'd complain more, but when I got Imperial Doughnut Break from the same store it was $17.99. Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint. After having Imperial Biscotti Break and Imperial Doughnut Break (the former of which was one of my all-time favorite stouts), I saw this and had to get my hands on it... even for the price. I may not have done it ordinarily, but I missed KBS this year, and wanted to try my hand at some highly regarded Imperial Stouts.

Appearance: Black. Only a bit of ruby even when I poured it, it's so dark. A really nice half finger head that stays, surprisingly. Virtually no lacing, but that's not a problem. Lovely pitch black color with a dark brown head. The pour was viscous... just looks dangerous.

Smell: Caramel and chocolate sort of smells dominate also with a sort of mocha aroma when the head's still around. Dark fruits as well, but in a very slight way. Kind of reminds me of how a Milky Way may smell if it were in a beer. I definitely get a brown sugar/molasses sort of sweetness from the muscovado that's in this beer. As the beer warms and the head goes away, it's just a lot of brown sugar sweetness, dark chocolate, raisins, and a pretty apparent smell of alcohol.

Taste/feel: That's a big one. A lot of chocolate with dark fruits and a lot of sticky sweetness on the front, with a great aftertaste. Just a huge, awesome roasted coffee sort of flavor with a slight char flavor and a really nice bitterness. This beer also has a very obvious alcohol presence, though it's not overly done. It can be tasted a little bit, and can certainly be felt. The feel on this one I'm not finding to be as thick as many others do, but it is pretty velvety with very, very little carbonation. Even if the ABV of this were knocked down to 8%, this beer is most definitely a sipper.

I know I've rated this beer as "outstanding" overall, because it is, but for the price, and knowing Evil Twin's quality of their Imperial Stouts, I expected something legendary. I didn't think this would quite stand up to the Imperial Biscotti Break anyway, but it's actually quite a ways off, as it turns out. This is an incredibly complex beer with a lot going on (a sort of dark fruit tanginess, muscovado sweetness, roasty bitterness, velvet mouthfeel, caramel and chocolate nose [at least initially]), and I can more than appreciate this beer, but I somehow got my expectations too high.

If you love Imperial Stouts, I don't need to tell you to try this beer. It's certainly pricey, but this beer does have a little something about it that's different than many others "up there" in the style. The problem with this beer is that it's just really quite expensive. A bourbon barrel aged version of this beer would, like most in the style, have me bumping up the crucial categories by at least a quarter of a point. Still, as it is now, it's certainly worth a look -- just don't quite expect a mind blower.

EDIT: I'm actually going to go ahead and bump up the taste and overall by a quarter of a point here. In the past, I seemed to always prefer a colder Imperial Stout because I felt it had more desirable flavors, but in this beer, the phenomenal aftertaste is somehow made better.

A- Black with a brown head that fades quickly leaving little to no lacing.

S- Roasted malts, cocoa, dark fruits, coffee, alcohol. Smells great.

T- Whoa, chocolate. Roasted malts/coffee are also up front. Alcohol is barely noticeable. A slight bitterness going down.

M- Full, rich and decadent, but very smooth. The alcohol is so well masked here. Incredible, really.

O- This is at or near the top Imperial Stouts I've had. A winner, no doubt.
