Appearance: Pours jet black with the consistency of motor oil. Half a finger of menacing dark brown head is produced on the pour. Above average active carbonation, especially for the style.
Smell: A lactose sugary sweetness jumps out right away. Dark heavily roasted malts and bitter dark chocolate hit first on the body. Espresso like coffee notes mesh well with heavily roasted malts and lactose sweetness. Some grassy/mossy hop notes are picked up on the back end.
Taste: Touches of lactose and sugar hit the palate first, which quickly come into contrast with heavily roasted malts. Those two battle it out on the front with the sweetness winning out and carrying into the body with accents of vanilla, oak, milk chocolate, and mossy hops. Those roasted malt poke their head through a touch on the finish with accents of tobacco, bark, dirt, and raisins. The finish is surprisingly easy on the palate, milk chocolate and coffee grounds providing a interesting combination of sweet and dry.
Mouthfeel: Decadent silky texture makes this one a joy to sip on for a long time. Combative contrasting textures come together to create an excellent, palate submerging experience.
Overall: A well executed brew by Evil Twin. I guess I should give the execution props to Westbrook but whatever. Rich and the definition of full bodied, this brew is deep and multilayered. There are areas the sweetness comes off a touch artificial and too forward but overall this is a wonderful brew.

Produced and bottled for Evil Twin Brewing at Westbrook Brewing Co. No date on the bottle. Pours a viscous deep, dark black with a somewhat cascading mocha colored two fingered head that settles to a thick cap. Some lacing is left down the glass.
Has the customary Evil Twin stout malt profile. I describe it as European stout aroma. Smells sweet with notes of chocolate, dark fruit, some Belgian candi sugar qualities, and coffee grounds. No sign of alcohol.
Big bold flavors. Some burnt and smoky qualities. Roasted malt with notes of chocolate, coffee, tobacco, dark fruit, earth, and wood. Bitterness comes from the roasted malt but this is one sweet stout. A little bit of alcohol heat and flavor in the finish.
Thick and full bodied. Feels like cream on the palate how it coats the taste buds. Chewy. There is life in the body but just enough carbonation to keep things from languishing on the palate. Perfect big stout body.
A lot to take in with this beer. Too sweet for me and I do not really like the Belgian qualities in my stouts. Does possess some outstanding qualities though.
