Pours a deep dark cola brown with a thinner beige head atop that doesn't last long, aromas of dark fruit and brown sugar really jump out at ya,sweet alcohol and a faint nuttiness there as well.Dark fruit and a whiskey-like flavor up front with minimal roast and more molasses and brown sugar sweetness in the end,it's all of 11.5% here. It's big and pretty sweet but I like it,sweet but not overly so it's a great sipper.

The beer is a viscous black. Great aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and dark fruit. Tasted of dark coffee, some sweet chocolate, and raisins. A little bit of an alcohol burn.
Great beer.

I am not sure why this one isn't rated higher. This was my first 'imperial porter' so I am not sure what that means as compared to a Imperial Stout but I will go with it...

A: Looks like an Imperial Stout, super dark with a nice dark brown head. This really was a great beer to break in my new KBS glassware.

S: Amazing and full of sweet chocolate with hints of plum. This must be why they are calling this an Imperial Porter.

T: Taste follows the nose, this beer is sweet but since I don't love sweet stouts, it wasn't too bad when compared. The taste didn't have the super dark taste to it that I would expect in an Imperial Stout, just a tad lighter.

M: Thick and viscous, nothing to complain about

O: This was such a good beer. For being 11.5%, I was floored at the lack of hotness it had. Only after it had warmed for a while did I get any kind of burn. I highly recommend trying this one, I hope I can score some more of this soon.

A: Nearly jet black with a light brown and foamy head. Like being out in the country, in a forest, on a cloudy night. Dark man, real dark.

S: Fresh tar, charcoal, and booze. If you ever worked or lived near a coffee roaster then you'll get the nose on this beer. Just dirty nasty char funk.

T: Pardon the redundant obviousness of this description. It has this funky fermented quality. And for anyone who likes kimchi you'll know what I mean. It also has this sour wine thing going on that makes my head spin. You'll also get the typical coffee and chocolate notes.

M: Sticky with a low, but lingering, carbonation. Surprisingly, not super heavy for an 11.5.

O: Lil' B is a very sexy beer. There is so much going with this beauty it's hard to come up with a complete and worthy summation. It's incredibly aggressive whilst retaining a refined elegance.

If if you see her, don't hesitate. Make your move or she'll end up between the sheets of another suitor.

12oz bottle poured into an oversized stemmed tulip

A: Can’t tell if this is black or if the lovely dark brown head is influencing me to think that the body is also brown. Either way, it’s dark as you would expect. Head faded away pretty quickly, leaving a thin ring around the edge. Not much lacing as it went down.

S: Sweet milk chocolate. Roasted chocolate malt. Cocoa. Some caramel. Slight floral hop presence.

T: Starts syrupy sweet and evolves into some nice roastiness. Fills your mouth with rich flavor then dries it out in the finish. Getting some soy sauce which isn't ideal. Some hop flavor shows up in the middle toward the end. Pretty intense flavor overall.

M: Full body, medium carb. Drinkability pretty low for me due to the sweetness and overall flavor intensity.

O: A well brewed beer, but most sweet porters/stouts just aren’t my cup of tea. I didn’t care for Imperial Biscotti Break and this isn’t different enough for me to like it more.

A beautiful stout: black throughout, small dark brown head, thick, viscous, and substantial in the glass, leaving messy, irregular splotches of lace down the glass.

Bold aroma of roasted malt, mild coffee and chocolate, along with some licorice, especially as the beer warms.

The flavor follows a similar trajectory as the aroma: roasted, chocolate, coffee combine initially, with more and more licorice flavors emerging as the beer comes closer and closer to room temperature.

Full bodied with low-moderate carbonation. Rich and thick.

Delicious, straight-forward, stouty goodness.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Brooklyn chalice. Bottled on date of 02/19/14.

Appearance: Pours pitch black with a moderate amount of bubbles. About one finger of tan head that fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a good amount of lacing.

Smell: A roasty and fairly sweet dark malt forward aroma with hints of chocolate, coffee, and smoke. Upfront roasted barley malts with hints of dark chocolate, coffee, biscuit, burnt toast, dough, caramel, toffee, yeast, and smoked malt. Sweet hints of molasses. Light hints of anise spice. Hops are very light. Some hints of booze as well. A pretty good roasty aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, a dark roasty and sweet dark malt driven taste with big notes of chocolate and coffee. Big taste of dark roasted barley malts with upfront notes of dark chocolate, coffee beans, burnt toast, biscuit, cookie dough, caramel, toffee, smoked malt, and yeast. Sweet taste of molasses and brown sugar. Light notes of anise licorice spice. Subtle hops in the background. A very good roasty taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, slick, and slightly syrupy. Some booze heat is noticeable but not overly strong.

Overall: A very good imperial version of a porter. Very much like a solid imperial stout with a good dark taste of chocolate, coffee, and some smoke.

This is my first review so give me slack

Lil B' is a nice imperial porter with a strong kick.

Serving: Bottle

Appearance: pitch black with a dirty brown head.

Aroma: mix of chocolate, fruit, with a light smokey character

Taste: Chocolate and malts are the most noticeable, with the taste of alcohol definitely noticeable. Can't tell what the fruit is but has a sweet fruit taste to it as well.

Feel: Creamy, velvety texture with light carbonation.

I really like this porter, has a nice kick to it that you feel from the beginning and only continues as you drink more, while not having an overpowering taste of alcohol you would expect in an 11.5% beer
