32 ounce growler (an alarming serving size of such a strong critter, to be sure) poured into an oversized snifter. It's definitely got the "imperial" look going, dark and oily body topped with a dense cap of red-tinged tan foam. Considering the wide glassware and strength of Lil B, the retention and scattered lacing aren't bad at all.

Nice nose on this stuff. Fresh brewed coffee, dark fruits, old-fashioned caramel candies, sweet citrus (think tangerine and blood orange), dryish roast with stray notes of cocoa. Alcohol?? I reckon I'm catching a stray whiff here and there, but dang, this is shaping up pretty dangerously so far...

Oh yeah, dangerous stuff here. As it warms, the fruitiness takes a turn toward vinous and mixed berry jam territory. Viscous but smooth with a nice slippery feel. Plentiful juicy and tangy flavors midswallow, with bittersweet chocolate, leafiness and some dry roast showing up in the lengthy finish. Even at this ABV, it's not overwhelmingly sweet, and certainly not boozy. Appropriately warming, but you'd never guess 11.5% while sipping on it. A surprisingly potent undercurrent of bitterness is a nice complement to all the sweet/fruity/tangy components of the flavor profile; I suspect it will cellar like a champ, but damned if it ain't tasty now. A touch more roast would really send it over the top. The price point's a bit tough to swallow, but I'm still inclined to grab a bottle or two to age.

Epilogue: Lil B will creep up on ya like the ninja of getting hammered. Proceed with caution...

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Bottled 5/21/14.

Appearance: totally black with a thick finger of rich, frothy dark-tan foam. Very good.

Smell: extremely rich aroma of chocolate, malt and rich, dark fruits: raspberry, cherry, date, raisin; it's like a Belgian quad and a porter got together. This seriously appeals to me.

Taste: much like the aroma, it's extremely rich and fruity. The same dark fruits are there, along with chocolate and a very impressive smoothness for a beer this strength. Two words: more please.

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a big carbonation and very good creaminess indeed. Shazam!

Overall: there are few beers as spot-on calculated to appeal to my taste. I love this.

This is my first review so give me slack

Lil B' is a nice imperial porter with a strong kick.

Serving: Bottle

Appearance: pitch black with a dirty brown head.

Aroma: mix of chocolate, fruit, with a light smokey character

Taste: Chocolate and malts are the most noticeable, with the taste of alcohol definitely noticeable. Can't tell what the fruit is but has a sweet fruit taste to it as well.

Feel: Creamy, velvety texture with light carbonation.

I really like this porter, has a nice kick to it that you feel from the beginning and only continues as you drink more, while not having an overpowering taste of alcohol you would expect in an 11.5% beer

Pitch black pour with a thin dark brown head, quick to sticky lacing.
Smell of dark malts, black olives, touch of cream, booze, cherries, plum, cocoa bean, faint coffee, lots of stuff, but doesn't really scream out anything in particular.
Taste is something else. Huge boozy dark fruit character, with big raisin, juicy figs, slightly sour cherries (that clearly remind of nice sherry), thrown into rich milky chocolate with caramel and molasses. Smokey roasted coffee beans and dark malts start peeping, backed by huge vanilla, some licorice, faint cinnamon and anise. American hops bring faint citrus and a green note way in the back, closer to the finish. Finishes with a mild bitterness.
Smooth and creamy, nice body, but the booze is a real hit, very strong from start to finish. Rich aftertaste with that dark fruity goodness and the minimum of roast.
Leaving the bad-handled booze aside, this is a great tasty... well, i'd say Russian imperial stout, but that doesn't really matter. Handle with care.

APPEARANCE: Pours a oily dark brown color with a tan head and sheet of brownish lace. Looks like the heavy hitter it is.

SMELL: Roasted, char, quite smokey.

TASTE: Chocolate, roast, coffee, some booze. Big chocolate and general malty ness. Fair bitterness and heat is not too strong

FEEL: Full bodied with a smooth and creamy texture.

OVERALL: This is a damn fine Stout.
