The beer comes in a dark black color with a foamy dark brown head.

The aroma has rich chocolate, lots of umami, dark roasted malt, espresso bean.

In the front, there’s a earthy bitterness and roasted malt character and molasses. The beer hides in sheep’s clothing and pretends that it is smaller than it truly is. It transitions to an umami and dark soy sauce. The beer evolves in big espresso bean, roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, burnt caramel. There’s some alcohol throughout, but it complements the richness of the beer. On the back, there’s a bit more milk chocolate sweetness and ash and smoke.

The mouthfeel is medium plus to full.

This base beer of Imperial Biscotti is an absolutely stellar imperial stout/porter if you are okay with alcohol and prefer huge robust and rich flavors.

$4.29 single poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint. Bottled 5/21 and poured 6/26.

Appearance: Pours pitch black with a tiny brown head that goes away pretty quickly. Strange, since I saw pictures of this beer with huge, fluffy ones. Very little lacing.

Smell: Dark chocolate, black coffee, a lot of dark fruits as well. The dark fruit character shines through most.

Taste/feel: Pretty damn tasty. Dark fruits galore, for me, with a hefty amount of coffee/roasty notes as well. Mocha sort of flavor at the end with a dry, dry finish. Sweet beer overall. A little roast bitterness at the end, but sweet to the point of almost being cloying. A bit of tanginess as well that seems to fit with the whole dark fruit flavor. Alcohol warmth is there, but untraceable for flavor when the beer's colder. A pretty creamy feel, but not super heavy. A high-ish carbonation is also there, which is true to the style.

I enjoy it -- it's the dark fruitiest dark beer I've ever had, which I didn't see coming. At the same price, I'd much prefer ET's I Love You With My Stout, as its roastiness, tobacco qualities, and deeper depth of flavor, but this is still an outstanding beer. To give you an idea of how phenomenal Evil Twin's dark brews are, this is my lowest scored one, and I'd consider it to be a disappointment. Another tasty sipper from Evil Twin.
