A - Pours a very dark brown with a dark brown head that fades fairly quickly.

S - Roasted malt, smokey, chocolate.

T - Smokey and burnt malts.

D - Decent carbonation with a heavy body.

O - Very burnt and bitter. I am not a fan.

Brewed in Stratford, CT (Two Roads Brewing?), not Denmark or Westbrook Brewing (per Evil Twin's website). And most definitely an imperial porter (as per the label).

Pitch black body with a good, light brown head. Anise, chocolate, and vanilla scents. Dark, sweet chocolate, cherries, roasted grains, coffee, and a smidgeon of alcohol flavors; mild hop bitterness. Thick, heavy body; chewy.

A very well-done imperial dark ale. Big and robust all-around: appearance, aroma, and flavor. It's well-rounded, deep and complex. The malts and hops do a good job of keeping the high ABV under control taste-wise. Need a big'n? Try this one...

355ml bottle poured into tulip 16/10/13

A dark liquid with a 1/2in edge, dark foam too but it fizzes out quickly and leaves no lace at all but some dark color and thick legs on the side of the glass instead

S molasses hits me strong and before anything else, chocolate syrup, dark bread, vanilla, a little booze but not much for 11.5%, faint smoke and fudge

T some bruised plum, charred wood, sweetened coffee, dark licorice, and not all the molasses I was smelling but that still leaves a fair bit, a step up over the nose

M very thick and creamy liquid, not much heat, sticky as all hell on the lips a little oily on the palate with a massive finish of chocolate syrup and burnt coffee and wood

O big, thick, and rich, hits the spots and sinks a little faster then a beer this big should

I feel like I just ate a meal and a good meal at that, a 20$ 4 pack isn't cheap but I feel like I'm getting my money's worth and will almost certainly buy another to drink a bottle every couple months

Poured a completely black body. A weak head that keeps a ring of lacing. It sure appears to be heavy gravity stuff.

Nose is chocolate, malty, molasses with yeast or biscuit. Pretty busy on the nostril.

Taste: Early parts of the sip bring forth a trying to be sweet chocolate coffee. Then you can feel this wave of bitterness go through your mouth. This is something I don't ever remember experiencing. When I say bitter, it is almost like coffee warmed back up. Mixed in with that is a subtle chocolate malted milk. The bitterness stays around for sometime. A very distinct beer and I find it quite enjoyable.

Due to the changing flavors I love the mouth feel.

Overall I find this beer very well done and a different treat. Reasonably priced as well.
