strange brew here to say the least. it would otherwise be a straightforward American pale ale, but it goes out of its way to be stupidly bitter for no reason. I mean, there is no hop flavor at all, not citrus or pine, or even cut grass as the lingo goes, just straight bitter. early and often hop additions result in a beer that has literally no hop flavor whatsoever, but is as bitter as you can possibly imagine, to the point it effects drinkability. beautiful pour is the best feature, clean looking copper color with a tall and lasting bone white head, real easy on the eyes. the nose too doesn't give anything away, its the taste that gets me. I am sort of infuriated by this beer. I mean, its clearly out of balance, clearly overpriced at about 13 bucks a sixer wherever its available, and basically marketed to an undiscerning clientele who will drink this beer because they think they are supposed to like it. its unnecessary and not up to the high bar evil twin has set for itself, both in terms of brewing and in terms of morality and general outlook. not a bad beer, don't get me wrong, but its an annoying statement in a can. one was enough.

Pours an effervescent bronze with 3+ fingers of cream colored head. Stellar head retention & lacing, stays effervescent throughout

S: Grassyness & faint breadyness

T: Grassyness, pine & herbal hops with some bready notes up front. Dryness, grassy & bready notes as this warms, some pear & orange peel along with aspirin. Finishes with aspirin bitterness, a bit of pear &mineral dryness

MF: Firm carbonation, medium body, okay balance

Drinks okay but nothing special, far better APAs out there that are at least 2-3 bucks a sixer cheaper

12 fl oz. can, with a date on the bottom of the can 09/28/2012. Not nearly as fresh as I'd hoped, especially at the ridiculous price, but I'm still keeping an open mind. Expectations are still moderately high based on how well I liked the Evil Twin Istedgade Hipster Ale.

Poured into an over-sized wine glass.

A - Pours a bright light straw / golden orange colored body with a decent amount of sediment floating around the glass. Three fingers of tall fluffy creamy white foam. Looks pretty nice to me.

S - Smell is faintly subdued underneath the giant head, but smells of dusty malt, lemongrass, creamy caramel malt, and earthiness come out.

T - Taste follows the nose: lemongrass, caramel malt, dirty herbal earthiness, tea leaf sweetness, and faded grapefruit hop bitterness.

M - Feel is smooth and clean with mild earthy bitterness lingering on the palate. Dry and grassy.

Overall, a decent pale ale, although I would much rather try it again fresh. The flavors and the beer itself have held up just fine though, I would say, but turned out to be rather ordinary and anti-climactic, especially for damn near $18 for a six pack.

A-Pours a hazy orange color with a decent sized head. Head is creamy and quickly deflating but it laces consistently.

S-Relatively mild. Some candied citrus and tangerine. A bit of grassy hops. Some buttery bread malty tones. Really quite dull and balanced.

T-The flavor brings out more citrus and grass with a breaded malt and a soft sweetness. I enjoy it more than the nose. The malt actually is more appealing than the hoppiness.

M-Drinks very easy. Soft bitterness. Inviting carbonation.

O/D-This sixer goes for around $14 per. Laughable price for a standard pale ale. Great looking can but damn, I'm happy I only copped a single.
