I allowed this beer 1/2 an hour warming from fridge temp.
The beer pours a motor oil black with a thin blanketing of dark tan head that fades into a thin halo with modest lacing. The nose is very potent and distinct of slightly roasty malts, ethanol, coffee, and bitter chocolate. Seriously, it has a very pungent nose. The taste is relatively malty and sweet upfront with a pleasantly roasty, boozy afterburn. Honestly, I can't say I've had many imperial stouts quite like this beer. The mouthfeel is thick and malty, sweet, with a slight bitter chocolate roastiness in the finish. Pungent, interesting flavors and a big ethanol burn make this an evening sipper. I'm glad to try this beer and think it provides a relatively distinct alternative to most american made imperial stouts...although at a price.

11.2 oz bottle at about fridge temp poured into a snifter.

Pours out an oily thick midnight black color with a thin dark mocha colored head. The head doesn't really last, only keeping a thin ring around the edge, but some thick dark brown legs are left all over the sides of the glass after a swirl. Keywords: black, oily, thick.

Deeply charred, bitter roast, bitter dark dark chocolate, some warm booziness, almost port or bourbon like in a way, that seems to blend in so nicely, really compliments the beer, hints of chocolate cake and as it warms hints of dark fruits.

A really nice tasting impy stout. Burnt bitter roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate, sweet burnt sugar, dark caramel, chocolate brownies. nuances of tobacco, dark fruits. A bit of a warming effect that works well with the beer, but in no way is it overly boozey. Finishes with a really nice deep bitter dark chocolate flavor that really lingers and almost tastes like German chocolate cake at times. As it warms the chocolate flavors are just amazing. What a complex stout!

Amazing mouthfeel. Thick, sweet, oily, viscous, smooth and velvety. A lower carbonation which obviously works well.

Maybe one of the best non barrel aged stouts I've had, so I can only imagine how heavenly this would be in a barrel. It's hard to pick a better one between this and imp. biscotti break, I would almost say this is better, because although I love the coffee in biscotti, I'm not a huge fan of the toasted malt notes, where this is straight deep dark burnt roasted malt. Buy this if you can, well worth the cash.

Bottle from Premier Gourmet. Incredible imperial stout. The aroma is mostly chocolate malty and it is irresistible. Black fudge appearance, with 1/4" retained head. Smooth as silk, long roast chocolate finish. Great drinkability. Alcohol well hidden. Excellent.

330 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Inky black. Not much head. Thin mocha collar. Glass staining. Great body.

Smell - Molasses and bucket of black patent malt. Definite alcohol presence. Slightly fruity.

Taste - Sweet and boozy up front. Less roast. More caramel. Sharp alcohol bite in the finish. Some chocolate and alcohol blended together in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Boozy. Medium bodied. Slightly acidic.

Overall - I remember enjoying Even More Jesus a lot more than this. Missing some of the roast I remember.

Served from bottle into a Mikkeller Teku (semi-proper!). Poured pitch black with a half finger brown head that subsided to a minimal amount very quickly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, roasted malt, caramel, wood, dark chocolate, sweet alcohol, and dark fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, bread, roasted malt, caramel, sweet alcohol, dark fruit, dark chocolate, and earth. It had a heavy feel on the palate with medium carbonation. Overall this was a pretty good brew. There was quite a bit going on in this one as far as robustness and complexity. I have had the other version of this in the past and this one compares pretty well. This one actually might be a little more robust on the dark chocolate aspect. While this is definitely a heavy hitter on the ABV aspect the other flavors going on here definitely do a good job of masking some of it, but doesn’t completely. A really well done brew that I’m glad I got the chance to try.

12oz. A sizeable oily looking pour, thin layer of light brown on top. Stuck to the glass just a little bit.

Aroma, big peaty malt, smoke, vanilla some roast. A tinge of booze.

Taste, big roast and smokey malt. A charred chocolate. Finish like chewing on a chocolate covered coffee bean. A minimal herbal type hop presence. It is big and bold.

Near oily slick, but there is a nice level of carbonation. Not nearly as boozy as the aroma led me to believe. No problem drinking this myself, but you need to be ready for a heavy roast malt and coffee.
The only problem with these Evil Twin brews is the price point.

11.2 ounce bottle. Served in a DFH snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a quarter inch tan head that fizzled away quickly. There's a good amount of lacing. Aroma is great, the brew smells like roasted malt, chocolate, molasses, and dark fruit. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some vanilla, burnt/charred malt and some coffee. Nice mix of sweet and bitter flavors in this stout. Mouthfeel/body is full, it's thick and creamy with a moderate amount of carbonation. Pretty good stout, I wish it came in a bomber because the small bottle left me wanting more of this brew. $7.99 a bottle.
