A: cloudy burnt yellow. When I hold it away from the light, the color reminds me of an overripe banana. Up to the light there might be a tinge of orange. The head sustained quite well, with some lacing.
S: mid-to-low strength wet cardboard with some herb notes (rosemary?) and a caramel-like sweetness behind it.
T: sort of balanced beginning. I note the bitterness a little more (lemon-grass earthiness), but there is a hint of a more honey (than caramel) sweetness as well. The flavors meld well in the end, but then slowly fade.
M: carbonation is decent throughout, but there isn't much of an impact on the mouth in my mind, a light lingering bitterness.
O: although I am not impressed with the beer hitting the style as I'd like (needs a little more hops punch), I did enjoy drinking the beer. The lighter overall taste reminded me of session IPAs I've had, but with more depth, and better than pretty much all of the beers I've had in that style.

deep copper color pour with 2 fingers of foamy thick head, leaving behind some nice lacing (great head retention/slow dissipation). smells of light citrus hops, pineapple, caramel, brown sugar - not your typical aroma for an ipa really, but i'm digging it.

the flavor is very sweet, lots of sugary sweetness, caramel, honey, barley, a biscuity/nutty profile with a touch of woodsy bitterness. honestly, a really nice and complex grain bill is something i'd like to see more of in ipa styles. medium in body with a low amount of carbonation..

overal it's a decent dipa, but for such a small portion (11oz) and a high price ($7), i'm not going to bother picking this one up again - considering they have better beers in bigger sizes for only a few bucks more.

330mL single from Northbridge Pig. Poured into a Sam Adams Perfect Pint glass...

A: Cloudy orange; one finger of cream head; a few strands of wispy lace.

S: Grapefruit rind; citrus aroma, but more of the pith variety; some light floral / grassy notes, too; not much malt aroma.

T: Minimal malt presence - perhaps some bread crust; orange / grapefruit peel; quite bitter; soapy finish.

M: Full bodied; moderate-high carbonation; even if abv is low for a double IPA, the mouthfeel is sufficient.

O: Nothing over the top - kind of like an imperial English IPA; nice flavor and great feel; I guess it really is an IPA for all occasions.

A - All occasion is hazy, somewhere between copper and honey in color. Head is cream colored with decent retention.

S - The aroma is an up front smack of hoppiness, in the form of piney American hops and a more English woodsiness. Beneath that caramel and fresh baked bread lend structure. Finish is a combination of honey and gently floral spiciness.

T - Everything I found in the nose blend together well on the tongue. The flavor begins honeyed and bready before moving into a mildly caramel center. Carbonation builds a bit across the tongue, leading the palate to a bracing, whipcrack of bitterness. Hoppy finish starts out with pine before moving into a decent, woodsy bitterness.

O - This IPA is delicate and assertive all at once. The IPA boasts some gentle sweetness, caramel malts giving support and structure. The bitterness is assertive and dominating as it should be in an IPA.

11.2 ounce bottle for $4.99 !?! No bargains from Evil Twin!

Pours clouded typical almond amber. Moderate khaki cap, going rapidly to a tiny bubble film, thin collar and respectable looking strands and minor fields of fine lace.

Mild hop leaf nose, with some malts lingering in the background.

Rich and malty is what I get up front, then more then a bit of smoke and then hops seriously drying things out and adding to the complexity. Smooth and flavorful.

Worth a try if you can get past the sticker shock....

Coppery orange in color. Head dissipated quickly. Aroma is slightly vanilla, earthy/tangy hops. An uncommon sweetness, for a DIPA; but that's not what throws me off. The hops is appropriately bitter, but has a chrmical quality as well. Very boozy. Too much alcohol for the 8%. Mouthfeel is actually great though.
