Brownish, thin appearance. No head or lacing.
Off smell, soy sauce, ugh.
The taste is similar to licking a dirty ashtray. (Well-traveled ex-smoker here...)
Thin, watery, bad.
I honestly wanted to like this, but it's too bad for that. A definite miss for a brewer with generally good recipes.
No, just no. Sorry.

A - Pours a dark black with minimal head to it. Not much lacing or retention at all.

S - Not complex, but about what you'd expect to get out of a porter. For an "imperial" I was expecting a little more.

T - Roasted malts, dark fruits, char and licorice. A little heat to it as well.

M - Thin bodied and low carbonation. Really a let down here.

O - I've had better imperial porter offerings from the same brewery. Really a let down here.

No head or lacing on a deep brown, likely clear body. Aroma of dark chocolate, cola, roasted malts, hint of coffee, some orange. Flavors of molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, caramel, very little roast. Medium body and light to moderate carbonation. Fairly sweet. The porter character is overshadowed. These things hurt drinkability.

12 oz bottle poured into brandy snifter

A: deep black color almost no head

S: figs, dates, alcohol, some roast

T: boozy licorice, figs, burnt dates

M: this beer is cloying and not in a good way

O: probably the worst ET porter/stout I've had it's boozy beyond belief and deeply cloying thank god it is retired

Pours an effervescent chestnut with minimal tan head. Some lacing & head retention

S: Some dark fruit, leafy hops & butter rum

T: Butter rum, dark fruit, woody & leafy hops, dryness up front. More leafy hops, figs. carob & slight cocoa & flat cola notes as this warms, some woody/oaky notes as well. Finishes with butter rum, oakyness,& a bit of figgyness & leafy hops. plus smokeyness

MF: Medium bodied, slight carbonation, thins out & dries out as this warms

Decent, nothing special. ABV is well hidden. Got better as this warmed. So far I'm not really impressed by these guys, especially as pricey as they are...

This is surprisingly diaphanous beer off the bat. There was a decent cream head initially, but it fades pretty quick, leaving some lacing down the side, but not enough to get Key and Peele's vampire's excited.

It does smell good, though! I'm not generally a fan of the fruitier side of dark beers, tending towards the roastier creamier side of things, but this is inviting. Dark fruits predominate, with some brown sugar, a round creamy note and almost a little bit of rum.

I have generally been very impressed with Evil Twin's big dark beers, but this one I find to be quite lacking. Starts off aggressively sweet with the dominant type being the dark fruit variety. Prunes (how appropriate listening to this gerontology lecture...), plums, some raisin and almost a tart cherry character. The sweet dark fruits coupled with the boozy heat (which is certainly there) actually almost remind me of a port. This is one that could well be worth laying don for a bit to let it mellow and hopefully that sweetness and alcohol will not be quite so dominant. I'm probably not going to buy another one just to try that, though, but maybe I will. But probably not. But maybe. I am decisive.

A - Pours with a small head of off white foam that settles rapidly and leaves almost no lace. The body is clear with just a hint of ruby showing through.

S - Caramel, toffee, smoky molasses, and some chocolate.

T - lots of dark sugar up front with molasses and toffee in the middle. Finishes with caramel and burnt toffee.

M - Medium thick body, moderately low carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - A bit too much dark sugar for me, perhaps with more age or some barrel character it would be nice, but as it is it doesn't work that well for me.
