Bottle from my trip home to MD. Pours pitch black and syrupy looking into my tulip glass, with a biff creamy dark brown head that turns to mocha as it thickens. Aroma of cocoa powder and chocolate syrup, earthy coffee, some roast, a little brown sugar and molasses. Mostly coffee and chocolate. Flavor is super sweet Hershey's syrup up front with a nice earthy coffee bitterness to balance that out. Plenty of roasted grains, some molasses , and then just more sweet chocolate. The coffee makes this drinkable luckily, otherwise it would be quite a mess. Body is thick with low to medium carbonation and a spicy coffee finish. A nice coffee brew but nothing to speak of with respect to donuts here. Just a gimmick on the donuts, but there's no need for that because this is a very good dessert beer.

In a teku glass the beer was a black color with a small tan head.

Strong coffee aroma, some chocolate. A sweet background.

Very nice taste. Strong coffee/chicory. Semisweet chocolate. A bit of booze. Very sweet background.

Full-bodied. Dark and mysterious.

Very good beer.

Poured from 22 oz bomber into a tulip.

A – Opaque, black, hints of brown, 2 cm of coffee/tan head.

S – Lots of sugar, molasses, resiny sweetness, hint of semi-sweet and bitter chocolate.

T – Very little glaze/doughnut flavor. Instead has a burnt roasted chicory or coffee flavor. Bitter chocolate on the finish.

M – Fairly bitter on the finish, sweet smell does not translate to the finish. Roasted flavors coat the tongue.

O – Very solid interpretation of imperial stout (though they call it a porter), but does not accomplish its goal based on the name of the beer. Not a lot of “doughnut” here. I would have seen it more as a straight imperial stout or possibly a coffee beer.

Poured into a 16 oz snifter. Pours about as pretty as it gets. A slick pitch black with a two inch mocha head that leaves behind some attractive lace.

Smell is just splendid, roasted coffee beans, dark chocolate, with hints of leather and tobacco.

Taste follows the nose, but even more intense roasted Expresso beans, with a hint of vanilla that I didn't pick up on the nose.

Body is medium large, just the right amount of life, a bit dry as you should expect from a coffee stout, and damn this goes down way to easy for 11.5%.

Overall Evil Twin is a bit expensive, but they can brew a stout as good as any. Awesome stout...
