Finally stumbled across one of these at Holiday Wine Cellar for $8.99 (limit 1 per customer). Poured into a crystal tumbler.

Pours a hazed cherry brown hue with a thin pinkish head that dissipates quickly with a couple sips. A lot of barrel funk on the nose, cabernet, dried hay, lemon zest, and a faint hint of bready malt. A lot of fruit up front, seems like it's going to be sweeter than I hoped, then the sour funk seeps in - has moments of an Oude Bruin, but remains much more tart throughout finishing with a dry and bitter mouthfeel. Would definitely satisfy any lover of sour/wild ales!

Hazy pinkish color with a ton of bubbly whitish-pink head. No real collar or lacing, but not typical for this style anyway. Taste is a nice refreshing tartness, some blueberry and a touch of lemon and some barnyard funk. High carbonation, and light body. Really great brew!

L: Pours hazy gold with a slight purple tint under a thin wisp of a foam cap.
S: Has a tart blueberry nose, with fruit and a suspicion of tomato.
T: Tart, blueberry, lemon action drinks dry and tart.
F: Medium high champagne carbonation, light bodied.
O: A tart refreshing beer. The berries tone down the tartness somewhat and the result is much better than I expected.

22 oz bottle poured into a snifter at cellar temperature.

L – Hazy deep amber color with a bit of a pinkish-blue hue and a 2-finger bubbly, fizzy, white head, also with a pinkish hue. Head fades relatively rapidly into a ring of white bubbles around the side of the glass. It’s tough to see through the beer, but it seems very effervescent from the surface.

S – Grainy wheat malt, earthy blueberries, a touch of lactic acid, and some musty yeasty aromas. It honestly kind of smells like a light blueberry cobbler or pie, still with the classic Berliner lactic notes. Really nice.

T – It starts off tart with lactic acidity and rapidly picks up a half-tart, half-earthy blueberry flavor. As the taste progresses, more of the grainy wheat and earthy, musty yeast flavor come through and pair well with the earthy blueberries.

F – Light-bodied, great carbonation, a tart, sticky, and crisp mouthfeel, and a mildly earthy, tart, and very dry finish. A little bit of the lactic tartness lingers for a while.

O – This is an awesome Berliner weissbier. It fits all the characteristics of a good Berliner, plus it has a nearly perfectly-done blueberry character. This is how I wish all fruit beers would be. You have a well-done base beer that is made better by the subtle addition of fresh fruit. Really tasty and extremely drinkable. I would recommend this to any beer drinker, but especially Berliner weissbier fans. Bonus points for the awesome label.

On-tap at Tørst in NYC, served in a large wine glass.

A- Pours a dark, opaque blueberry/purple color, has a nice inch of pinkish head, which has great retention and leaves a lot of delicate lacing. It looks awesome.

S- Has a subtle aroma of blueberry flesh, which really starts to come out as the beer warms, there's also a very nice earthy funk, oak and wheat. The aroma is very nice and pretty complex for a Berliner.

T- Tastes great, the tartness is moderate to high, spot-on for a Berliner, mostly lactic acid with a hint of acetic, finishes with a lingering flavor of blueberry skins and juice.

M- Light-bodied, with a tart, dry feel.

O- I was really impressed by this. I had this just a few days after Hunahpu Day, where I tried a lot of great Berliners from Funky Buddha, and this beer is definitely on par with a lot of the best Florida Berliners. I had only had big stouts from Evil Twin before, so it was also cool to see Jeppe do such a different style and to totally nail it. This is a great beer, definitely seek this out.

22oz bomber from CBX...

A: Hilarious label; pours an interesting looking crimson-orange, with one finger of white, fizzy head; zero retention or lace; the color is really unique.

S: Tart; light wheat / dry malt aroma sweetness; blueberry meat; light fruit aroma; nice.

T: Nice and tart; puckering; wheaty; grape-y; blueberry flavor is light, but provides some finishing sweetness.

M: Medium-light body; high carbonation; puckering sour finish.

O: Refreshing; inviting; great Berliner Weiss with blueberries; a great Evil Twin / Westbrook / CBX collaboration!

Poured from a 22 oz bomber into a Kwak glass.

A- Pours a super cloudy grapefruit colored body with light, light red fizzy head that reduces quite quickly to leave no lacing or retention.

S- Quite perfume-like, sweet berries dominate the nose but not in an overpowering way. Blueberry, raspberry, strawberries, sweet red wine.

T- Starts off tart and lactic, progresses to subtle berries, raspberry and blueberry, finishes with a very nice freshly baked bread, biscuity, malty note. Very complex.

M- Thin yet refreshing, medium carbonation.

I was pleasantly surprised with Justin Blabaer. Tasty but not overpowering, the berries were nicely balanced here.

Nice looking body, orange, pink, amber tones with a soapy, white head. Aroma is tart fruit, unripened blueberries, grassy wheat. Taste is on point. Tart, puckering sourness, lots of fruity flavors, an earthy wheat finish. Body is sticky, puckering, tart, lingering finish. A great take on the style, I'm a fan.

bottle picked up locally. enjoyed from a Tørst wine glass.

a - poured a rather attractive peach orange with a darker core. the head was pink and fizzy and gone quick leaving sparse remains.

s - wow. smell is really solid. berry-er-ific. blackberry, blueberry, really nice...

t - HOLY MOLY!!! taste. is. great! like berry soda...super refreshing.

m - medium bodied and a bit heavier than i'm used to for a berliner, but it really works for this beer. like grape soda but a bit less fizzy. SUPER easy drinking.

o - i'll be honest, i got this because it made me laugh when i first heard about it and as a label collector, this one is a MUST have. that being said, who would've guessed that the contents would be so spot on. really well done for my tastes. thanks to evil twin for killing it on the inside and on the outside on this one.

July 14th, 2013

Pours a pinkish-blue with a loose finger of white head.

The nose is almost completely dominated by bright, fruity blueberries. A touch of fruity wheat esters come in as well but they are buried beneath the blueberries.

It's packed with juicy blueberries upfront. The midpalate is also loaded with blueberries but fruity wheat esters also begin to come through. Late midpalate raw, grassy wheat tempers the fruitiness and provides the perfect transition into the tart and extremely refreshing finish.

The mouthfeel is light and super refreshing.

This is an incredible beer. It's vibrant, bright and exciting. The blueberries zip around the palate and the wheat helps to balance this juiciness, stopping it from becoming overly fruity. The tartness in the back is gentle and gradual, not too sharp. It's so refreshing. I wish I could drink this all summer. I need to buy more.

Pours an amber to copper color with head that diminished very quickly with no visible lacing.

Aroma is sour, vinegar, blueberries, lac to bacteria, and white wine.

Taste is sour, acidic, white wine, with blueberries on the underside. Minor sweet finish.

Mouthful is light crisp and higher end carbonation.

Overall a very nice beer with minor drawback of the blueberries somewhat muted.

22oz bomber (The Westbrook version) care of JISurfer (many thanks man!) poured into a Mikkeller teku. The brew pours a clouded pink color with a white finger of fluff that slowly fades supported by rising bubbles. As the cap fades, it leaves a stringy web of lace on the glass.

The aroma is nothing short of gorgeous. Bright fruity berries mixed with a lemony lactic and greek yogurt note. A hint of cereal-like grain and wheat almost makes for a scent like fruity pebbles cereal. As the nose opens up, it increases with a seedy blueberry note that is strikingly more pungent than I expected but very much natural and super enjoyable.

The taste is tart with a not so identifiable berry flavor that blends through the mouth and really resonates in the aftertaste. Notes of mild lemon zest, greek yogurt and a bit of wheat sweetness is present to contrast. This is bright and fruity with enough wheat and tartness to keep it flowing and interesting.

Light bodied and lively carbonated but not quite effervescent. This is one of the most blueberry forward brews I have had in a long time. It is downright crushable as far as drinkability goes. As far as berliners go, this one at times feels a bit watery. However, it is a perfect summertime offering that (i am nitpicking here) could use a bit more tartness. Regardless, I enjoyed the grain backing and how clean this was. I want more...

Pours an effervescent pinkish hued orange with a pinky of pearl colored head. No head retention or lacing

S: Grassyness, a little berry tartness

T: Serious tartness, a little blueberry, some lemongrass up front. Tart blueberries, a slight touch of lemon & a hint tangerine peel as this warms, a little wheatyness there as well. Finishes with very tart blueberry, & a touch of lemon

MF: Light bodied, delicate carbonation

Super drinkability, if this wasn't so bloody expensive, I'd drink this all summer. Not 100% married to the style, but this is a damn good beer

Arguably the funniest name and package in the beer game.

A-Pours a very murky, glowing orange with pink undertones. White foamy, sudsy head that fluffs away. Ringy lacing. The body's color is brilliant.

S-Blueberries and an assortment of other tart berries. Underripe raspberries, blackberries and obviously blueberries. A hint of vinous funkiness too.

T-Delectably tart with a very natural blueberry flavor. Fruity sweetness melds with the sourness to make a very yummy mixture of flavors. Wheaty and barnyardy as well. Blueberry, raspberry, strawberry and blackberry. A brilliant Berliner with berry highlights all over the place.

M-Light, crisp, natural and refreshing. Drinks perfectly. I could drink about 7 bombers of this.

O/D-Great name and label but boy, the beer is no slouch either. Not just a gimmick, this is one of the best Berliners I have had. Love the blueberry flavor. Must try.

Appearance: An impressive head caps the mauve-tinted amber liquid; the lacing slips down the side of the tulip rather quickly

Smell: Grainy bread with lactic lemon and blueberry elements

Taste: The grainy bread flavors underpin, up front; lactic fruit (lemon and blueberry) build through the middle and linger with the bready malts rejoining in the finish

Mouthfeel: Light bodied and creamy with moderate carbonation

Overall: I wouldn't know Justin Timberlake from the Back Street Boys (nor do I want to) but this is one enjoyable beer

I purchased this at The Beer Store in Southampton, enjoyed chilled in a tulip...shared with tenderbranson69.

The color is a hazed golden with 3 fingers of fluffy yellowish white which collapses to a thin band with fine bead and confetti type lace. The smell is very good a nice sour smell with fruity yeasty aroma with a light funky wild character and slight pie-like tart fruit nose mixed with wheat. The feel is sufficiently sour up front with moderate carbonation and slight funkiness with mild malt adding a sweetness mid palate. The feel finishes mostly dry and vinous.

The flavor has a distinct fruity taste with a lot of wildyeast and lactic tanginess with more fruit tartness coming forward with subtle wheat backing up the bacteria in the flavor with mild fruit skin and low acid in the middle. The lemon and berry cohesive taste is impressive...I find myself going back for additional tastes as there is a mix of sweetness left on the palate after the initial tangy almost sour flavor subsides. This is a great beer and very quenching at the same time I was pleased to have the chance to try this bottle and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys berliner weissbier... a very drinkable, quaffable and satisfyingly great sour wheat.

Poured into snifter. Pours a reddish purple with a bit of haze. Not much head with a vigorous pour, no retention. The nose starts with a fresh tart wave of blueberry followed by lemon zest, wheat, and some acidic notes towards the end. The taste starts just like the nose with ripe blueberries paired with wheat and lemon. The combination of flavors are seamlessly integrated and makes for an extremely refreshing drink. There is tartness present mid palate, nothing overwhelming. A nice note of citrusy zest on the finish. Mouthfeel is light and moderately carbonated. Overall, a delicious Berliner that is very refreshing.

From 06/01/13 notes. Bought a bottle of this at Tørst in Brooklyn, NY, had about 8oz of the bottle. I previously had 2 sample of this up at EBF in March, but glad to have it again and give it a proper review.

a - Pours a deep reddish-brown color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident.

s - Smells of sour blueberries, vinegar, sour red wine, sour dark fruits, berries, oak, fruity malts, and some light funk in the end. The nose is fantastic on this beer; very fresh and strong, and a ton of awesome sour blueberries and dark fruit. The light funk also adds to it. Top notch.

t - Tastes same sour blueberries, vinegar, tannic, oak, musty notes, earthy notes, and sour red wine. I like the taste, but it is much weaker than the nose and seems like a watered down version of what the nose promised. Still a good taste, it's just that the nose is great.

m - Lighter bodied beer and low carbonation. A little acedic, and pretty easy to drink.

o - Overall this is certainly a good berliner, and one of the better Evil Twin beers that I've had. I think the nose is fantastic; super sour, super fresh, and some light funk adding complexity. It might sound like I didn't like the taste which is not the case; the taste is good, it's just that after the nose this beer had I was hoping for it to be a little more flavorful. Easy to drink, definitely worth checking out if you can get a bottle, and I'd certainly have it again.

Pours purple-tinged amber with a fading head.
Nose hints at acidity to follow, soft blueberry and elderflower.
Reasonably acidic flavours, but there's a fair bit of blueberry sweetness too. Stupidly drinkable stuff.
Nice high carbonation, suits the flavours well.

Poured into plastic beer cup at a party haha. Everyone hated it but me which was perfectly ok, more for me! Appapesrence wise, typical for style, a pale almost watered down lemonade look to it.

Smelled tart sweet and slight like blueberries. Taste at first was very tart whith a solid sweet/tart blueberry taste to it. At first it was a little less tart than I hoped for until. I poured the rest of the bottle into my cup with all the yeast at the bottom. That kicked it up a notch and was much more mouth puckering tarty with sour blueberry tones. Solid Berliner and would like to drink again.

I had the opportunity to pick up a half growler of this after a little taste at Saveon. I could not resist. I could get used to this.

It looks wild - the berry color darkens the cloudy Berliner. The aroma hints of sweet and sour, just what is to come in the taste, an wonderful blend of tartness.

It lingers in the mouth, nasty and sour, but not overly so. The fruit cuts it just a tad. I thought the flavor would ease up with more drank, but with more warmth (it is barely cold), it gets more robustly sour.

Highly recommended.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a PW Berliner glass.

Pours a light hazy purple with a 1 finger effervescent off-white head. Some trails of lacing remain.

Lemon, sour mash, light blueberry.

Wheat and light pale malts, light sweetness, sour mash, blueberry is there but not prevelant, some tartness and acidity.

Very good Berliner. Not very sour or tart, but solid Berliner characteristics and enough blueberry to notice it.
