330ml bottle. Am I really the first user to review this? I mean, really? 23 ratings and 0 reviews? Fucking hell in a handbasket.

This beer pours a hazy pale golden amber hue, with one skinny finger of lazily foamy, mostly bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some random snow rime lace around the glass as things genially abate.

It smells of sharply acidic orchard fruit, a certain toasted Chardonnay barrel character (I know that this is 'red wine barrel aged', but I smells what I smells), lightly funky earthy yeast, crackery pale malt, a further sour breadiness, a touch of peppery spice, and earthy, leafy hops. The taste is more sour pale malt graininess, white (and I suppose a touch of Gamay or Pinot Noir red) wine fruitiness, independent toasted barrel notes, some sour lemon and orange pith, ethereally funky green yeast, a subdued white and black pepper spiciness, and sassy leafy, earthy, and faintly grassy hops.

The carbonation is a bit astringent at first, but slowly tails off after that, the body medium-light in weight, and actually quite smooth, amongst the fray of yeast, wood, and hop. It finishes off-dry, the grainy maltiness not quite ready to give up the ghost just yet, while the yeast, spice, and softly astringent wine-soaked woodiness linger about, aimlessly.

A decently hefty saison, bolstered in a more or less sexy manner by the wood treatment. Weird how the the wine essences seemed so mixed and muddled, but in the end, were just deviously beguiling. I still don't know who the hell Ron and Ryan are, but their creativity is well marke(te)d here.

Hazy golden color with off-white, creamy head. The wine notes really pop up in the aroma. Taste has also a lot of wine and barrel character. Also a bit of tartness to balance the alcohol which is a bit too present. But overall this was a really nice surprise for me.
