Bottled on 4/16/13.Poured into a standard pint glass a dull lemon yellow color with just a great looking firm one finger head just doesn't dissapate, not a fan of the color but a big fan of the pillow-like head.Big citrusy hops jump out in the nose along with some pine underneath, not much malt presence except for mild toastiness. If you like grapefruit and bitterness this your kinda ipa,I love it,intesnse grapefruit juice flavors and some stickiness to go along with some lighter pine resin, again just a faint drier malt presence.I haven't had an in your face sharp hop bomb in awhile and for me this fits the bill.Excellent...in my opinion.

Bottled 4/??/14, poured into tulip; foggy-clear light gold in color with a solid white head that descends leaving nice slick lacing.
Smell is a bit weak but is very good and interesting. Pine and citrus, with lesser notes of sweet fruit, like peach and others. An interesting twist on the usual.
Taste follows nose very well. Big wallop of citrus and pine that suddenly then moves into soft, sweet flavors of tangerine and peach as it fades, leaving some bittersweet lingering flavors.
Mouthfeel is medium-light and slick.
Overall, this is a very tasty IPA with a unique flavor. Definitely one of the better light-colored Evil Twin beers I've had so far.

12oz bottle. The label marketing spiel seems to indicate that this is brewed in Stratford, Connecticut. WTF? Still July 4th, I admit that, but this is still a potentially slavish ode to the land in question, so, um, there?

This beer pours a slightly hazy, very pale golden straw colour, with three fingers of puffy, silken foamy, bone-white head, which leaves some nicely thorough, if not exactly consistent webbed lace around the glass as things quite slowly sink away.

It smells of musty grapefruit and orange hops, some further pine resin astringency, mild lemon cleanser notes, and pale grainy, somewhat crackery malt. The taste is astringent orange and grapefruit rind, a bit of further lemon tartness, understated pale grainy malt, some slightly aggressive pine essence, and further leafy, floral, and faintly perfumed hops.

The carbonation is pretty sublimated, the body on the lee side of medium weight, and mostly smooth, with just a twinge from any of those overly effusive hops. It finishes well off-dry, the caramel-tinged malt and fruit-heavy hops reigning heavy over the bitter, edgy components of the same.

A decent enough emulation of the real deal, McCoy, whatever - the hops are adequate, to be sure, but not really up there in yo face (sorry) to qualify for inclusion into the rarefied aura of American IPA lore. Good, sure, but with a obvious lacking in crispness and overt bitterness. Dem's the breaks, I guess.
