A - Wonderfully black with a really pleasing toffee coloured head.

S - Big burst of espresso up front. There's a little honey underneath. Coffee is the dominant feature.

T - The coffee influence is strong and is undoubtedly a positive addition.

M - Really, really smooth. Silky, velvety. All good things.

O - The abv is masterfully hidden which makes this beer deceptively drinkable. It's a really nicely constructed coffee imperial stout which is super smooth in the mouth. Fairly straightforward though, as there isn't much going on other than coffee. If there were a little more vanilla or chocolate it would go to the next level.

12 oz bottle poured into shaker pint

A: Absolutely no head at all no carbonation sound when bottle was opened completely pitch black

S: Deep dark chocolate with roasted coffee lots of burnt malts

T: nice rich coffee with big roasted malts and bittersweet chocolate some licorice

M: creamy thick very cloying in a good way makes the beer feel more decadent

O: Very nice beer odd that there is no carbonation. Great rich roasty coffee and chocolate with a nice thick mouthfeel pretty much everything you want in a stout displayed nicely here. Only wish the carbonation was a tad higher.

Pours an effervescent ebony with a sliver of caramel colored head. Nice viscous look to this, still effervescent, zero head retention & lacing

S: Coffee, dark fruit, a little vanilla

T: Dark fruit, carob, a little bit of woody hops, some booze, a little dryness. Raisin, chocolate, a little charred grain & dryness as this warms, some vanilla & a little leafy hops. Finishes with faint boozeyness, raisins, figs, a suggestion of coffee & a little caramel

MF: Fairly chewy, low carbonation. Carbonation picks up once warm

Fairly complex, drinkable enough, but this beer failed to truly impress me. I can better examples of this style for far less cost. Evil Twin will continue to just be a tick for me. Even when the quality is there, the price is just insane

Bottle from The Beer Temple. Served in a taster glass.

A - Big tan foam lingers, leaving behind tons of sticky lacing. Pitch black body. Ominous. Not sure what else one would want here.

S - Big coffee, roasted malts, light smoke, dark pumpernickel bread, dark chocolate, and perhaps a tad yeasty. Alcohol is very well-hidden.

T - Taste isn't quite as good, with less of the sweetness and more espresso bitterness and heavier emphasis on roasted and charred malts. Basically my exact same problem with the other beers in this series, but more extreme due to the coffee addition.

M - Medium-full body, some roasty and gritty coffee grounds in the texture, viscous, chewy, with lower carbonation. Again, well-hidden alcohol.

D - I didn't find this to be a big improvement on the base beer; while the coffee imparted more depth to the aroma it put the burnt and charred notes out of balance flavor-wise. Otherwise, it's a very solid Imperial Stout. Worth checking out, particularly if you're that guy who likes eating the burnt cookies and/or popcorn.

Pours a midnight black color with no head at all. Rich aroma of coffee and some chocolaty sweetness. Flavor is coffee, dark chocolate and sweet but not too sweet. Very smooth to drink, has a very easy drink because carbonation is so low. Overall it's very good but I wish it had a little more carbonation

A: Deep dark brown under a 2” dark tan to brown finely bubbled foam collar that clings to the glass providing thick cluimps of lace.
S: coffee, dark chocolate, dark malt
T: Big creamy start – a hint of malt and then a big coffee rush – it alternates briefly between espresso and mocha with some higher alcohols and some esters sitting between the coffee and the chocolate action. Suggestions of dark cherries.
F: Big and chewy with very fine and soft carbonation and soft warming on the finish.
O: The coffee and the chocolate are very well balanced and the rich texture makes this very easy to drink.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Brooklyn chalice.

Appearance: Pours pitch black with a moderate amount of bubbles. Slight finger of tan head that quickly fades away.

Smell: A rich and roasty dark malt driven aroma with a big scent of coffee and chocolate. Dark roasted barley malt with a big scent of coffee beans, dark chocolate, smoke, toasted bread, biscuit, grains, caramel, and yeast. Sweet hints of molasses and vanilla. Anise black licorice hints along with some tobacco and leather. Dark fruit hints of raisin, plum, and cherry. Also some nice hints of earthy hops. A really good roasty aroma.

Taste: Like the smell hints at, a roasty and rich dark malt driven taste with notes of coffee and chocolate. Dark roasted barley malt with notes of coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate, toasted bread, smoke, biscuit, grains, caramel, and yeast. Sweet taste of molasses and some creamy vanilla. Good notes of black licorice from anise. Also some notes of tobacco along with leather. Dark fruit undertones of cherry, plum, and raisin. Some earthy hop bitterness. A really nice taste.

Mouthfeel: Full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Rich, creamy, and fairly oily. Alcohol heat is masked very well for 12%.

Overall: A really good Imperial Coffee Stout. Good mix of roasty coffee and chocolate flavor with some nice dark fruit presence.
