Drank from an 11.2 fl. oz. bottle purchased at Harvest Wines & Spirits, West Hartford, CT
Served in a snifter
Outstanding appearance. The beer poured an oily and viscous, absolute pitch black and was topped by an inch-tall crop of super creamy and dense, saddle brown foam. Amazing lasting strength on the head, which slowly faded to a thick, bubbly ring. Huge, drippy patches of lacing coated the glass and stuck around far longer than I anticipated.
The aroma was rich and robust. Semi-sweet with strong notes of mocha, brown sugar and vanilla. Not a lot of coffee per se, but definitely smoother and more interesting overall than the regular Aún Más Jesús. Fudge-like notes were also apparent. As the beer warmed, dark fruits (plums and raisins) were noticeable.
Lots of roastiness came through in the flavor profile initially. Roasted malts and sweet brown sugar notes balanced each other on the front end. Smoky with hints of molasses. Good amount of fresh vanilla bean as well. Touch of cold coffee in the center. The finish was roasty and slightly ashy, with a slight boozy sting. For a 12% ABV beer, however, the alcohol was well buried. Some earthy hops were detectible. Bitter notes lingered on my palate after each sip.
The mouthfeel was nearly flawless. Amazingly creamy and dense with a super fine, silky, tongue-blanketing effervescence. Velvety smooth.
I found the regular Aún Más Jesús to be overly roasty and bitter, but the addition of "café" seemed to mellow out some of that beer's rougher edges. Being a huge coffee fan, however, I really wished there was a whole lot more of it in this beer.

The beer comes black with a chocolately brown fluffy head.
The aroma is of sweet chocolate, creaminess, roasted malt.
The flavor explodes on you with espresso, smoke, chocolate. The chocolate is bittersweet, almost like baker's chocolate. There's tons of roasted coffee. And then just a deep deep roasted malt flavor.
The beer has a beautifully luscious body that is the highlight of the beer. The incredible thing about this beer is how dense the flavors are, yet the beer just lifts off the tongue so gently that you just want to keep sipping more. There is a slight booziness to clean up the beer.
This beer hides 12% ABV like few other beers that I've had at hiding alcohol. It is dangerously easy to drink and just delicious as a roasty chocolate espresso milkshake. The coffee is a wonderful roasty addition to the already fantastic base beer.
