Deep dark brown with thin beige head. Aroma is coffee and burnt toast. Taste is nice and bitter (not hop bitter, but roast grain bitter) and leaves a nice stinging aftertaste. This is nice winter time beer, tasty and warming.

Pours deep mahogany with good clarity overlain by rather thin yet well formed and persistent light tan creamy head that slowly sets to stable cloth which gains volume with each swirl.
Aroma exhibits strong malt with deep chocolaty-caramel qualities, and a wee too evident alcohol.
Moderately carbonated beer is full-bodied and viscous on the palate, malty in balance while the sweet flavor is dominated by chocolate with mild roasted notes and warming yet smooth alcohol. Aroma is a bit too boozy but the flavor and mouthfeel make this a decent beer. (supposedly fresh 330 ml bottle lacking BB date, into tulip.)

In short, a thick bodied, sweet chocolaty Doppelbock with warming alcohol.

Beautiful ceramic top bottle given to me last week from an air force pilot buddy that was in Germany earlier in the week.
What a gem. Dark but not black color, frothy but quickly disappearing head. Not knowing german, I was not sure of the style but the sweet, caramelly, malty smell was a dead give a way as a doppelbock. Smooth mouthfeel. The slight alcohol appearance seemed about 8% and after checking the bottle more closely, it was right on. Well made to style. Then come the flavors. Dark chocolate, cherry, slight coffee. As an earlier review posted, Black Forest Cherry cake. Right on but not as sweet as you might think. Wonderful ligering chocolate cherry aftertaste but dry enough to want you going back for more right away. An outstanding doppelbock that even in this summer heat, I can't wait to have another.

This was in my fridge for only about 20 minutes so it wasn't too cold. Poured one from the same swing-top bottle in the photo. Nice tan fluffy head that dissipates. Good carbonation. Little to no lacing.

Color is dark, copper and amber perhaps symbolic of the underworld motif on the label. Smells of maple syrup, malt and sweet candy.

Taste like dessert! Chocolate cake, caramel and coffee with a nice bitterness at the end. Warming alcohol sensation. Mouthfeel is syrupy and thick but not in a medicinal sort of way.

Great Doppelbock (referred to as 'stark bier' on the bottle). All I can say is 'Wow!' I've lived in or around Mannheim, Germany for almost three years now but have never ran across this gem. I'm assuming its seasonal. Can't believe I paid only a euro for one and didn't get any more!

Half a liter old fashioned swing top bottle. This bottle has one funky label on it. This label shows a jester in a red suit and hat playing a trumpet. What's so funky about this label is that there is a red monkey holding a brown mug of beer right in front of his face. All of this is taking place in front of a big vine of red hop buds. In the lower right hand corner is a date. This is the best before date because the same date can also be found on the back label with "best before" written in German. Also on the back is the ingredients and a few of the medals it has won in the past.

Appearance: It seemed fitting to pour this German beer into a Celebrator pilsner glass. With a loud pop, out comes a beer that was a dark mahogany color with a small tint of cranberry red mixed in with it. The head of foam looked good at first, but then it quickly dissipated into nothing. It disappeared so fast that I couldn't see what color it was. I tried to recreate it by pouring more beer into the glass, but even that quickly disappeared too. After a about a few minutes, I gave up on it. If you want to see a head of foam on this beer, you better take a picture of it when you first pour it because it will only last for about 5 seconds.

Smell: The aroma was more sweet than malty with some lightly roasted malts, a couple of raisins, a drop of molasses, a touch of sweet caramel, a pinch of burnt brown sugar, and than this sweet aroma finishes up with a whiff of alcohol. It smelled like they needed to increase the roasted aromas and lessen all the sweet aromas. I like a little sweetness in the nose, but only if there's some roasted aromas backing it up.

Taste: It looks like a German Doppelbock, smells a little like one, and let's see if it tastes like one. It starts off lightly roasted with roasted malts, a pinch of burnt coffee beans, and some raisins here and there. In the middle of the beer is where I got a quick splash of sweetness from a drop of molasses and a dab of sweet caramel. After the sweetness leases the tongue, in comes a mixture of alcohol and a subtle touch of bitter hops. Overall, it was a beer that just didn't focus on one flavor. Every flavor in this beer had an equal turn to dance on the tongue. It wasn't overly malty, sweet, of alcoholic. Does it taste like a Doppelbock? I would have to say yes!

Mouthfeel: This was a lightly roasted and sweet medium bodied Doppelbock that featured an aftertaste of roasted malts, a pinch of burnt coffee beans, a touch of burnt brown sugar, and a slight bite of alcohol. This aftertaste will not last long. It was kind of like the head of foam.

Drinkability: First off, I would like to thank Donny2120 for giving me the opportunity to try this only available in Germany Doppelbock. There's nothing too special about this Doppelbock. It was just another a well balanced German lager. It disappointed in the appearance and smell, but it came through in the taste where it matters most.

This brew has a great presentation with mounds of milk chocolaty tan looking head and a dark burgundy ruby red looking body.

I detect roasted malts in this beer. There is a doughy and cola like fragrance too. Hints of cinnamon and vanilla are present also.

This is a very sweet and tasty beer. It is almost like drinking semi-sweet chocolate. There is an abrupt toasted bread finish. I detect cherries as well. Altogether this feels like I'm drinking a liquid Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest cherry cake).

This feels warm and palatable to say the least.

Feuerio Tropfen is labeled "Starkbier", which made me skeptical at first, thinking this would be an euro strong lager, but this beer kicks ass. This is the second most complex beer I've had in Germany and deserves renowned attention.
