A dark brew, Elda M. Milk Stout pours to a brown/black color with a sold head of foam that makes its presence known and holds its own for a while before falling into a thin coating of tiny bubbles as you drink. The beer pours out with the look of a very rich, heavy beer and it offers a tempting nose of roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee.
Elda M. Milk Stout offers a nice, memorable flavor that is what one would expect for the style. The flavor of roasty malt and chocolate dominate, but search further and you will notice a little bit of marshmallow/vanilla taste, coffee, and lactose. The beer has dessert- like qualities and while it leans toward the sweet side, it is still nicely balanced overall.
I have tried both the draft and bottled form of this beer and I find them very similar in overall quality and taste. The tapped version seemed a little creamier, but the bottled version is every bit as good with a flavor profile that is roasty, chocolaty, coffee- like, and fairly smooth. The beer has just enough hops and other qualities to keep it from becoming too sweet. The beer is medium to full- bodied but based on appearance alone, it seems like it is going to be even heavier. From the bottle, it has an aggressive personality, but once you taste it, you find that the body of the beer is more moderate than expected.
Milk stouts often hit the spot and this milk stout is certainly one that rates better than the average. It tastes best if allowed to warm up to about 50 degrees Fahrenheit so that the flavors can come out of hiding and display their best qualities. Try some if you find yourself in the Houston area and looking for a new beer product- you will be glad you did.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter.
A: Black. Pours a 1 finger, brown head. Settles slowly. Spotty lacing.
S: Charred grains, licorice, and dark chocolate.
T: Charred grains and coffee are prominent. A little raisin.
M: Thick and heavy. Grainy on the front, slight hint of synthetic sweetness lingers in the finish.
D: Sip and savor.
Atmosphere is pretty good. Nice head but no real lacing. Nose is characteristic of the style... roasted malt, licorice, and chocolate. Charred grains and coffee in the flavor. Overall, this is a pretty good quaff.
