Pours an opaque amber producing 2.5 fingers of beige, moderately lasting, frothy head that leaves a thin, soapy wash & webs of lace. Aromas of toast & biscuit, caramel, tangerine, grapefruit, orange & lemon zest, a hint of tropical & white fruit, faint pine & floral earthiness. Taste is toasted biscuit, caramel, oats, grapefruit, pineapple, orange zest, pear, pepper, hints of pine resin & floral earthiness. Finishes similar with more pine & floral earthiness which become dominant in the dry, bitter & lightly drawing aftertaste. Nicely balanced with a complexity of flavors. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation, finishing dry with a nice tongue coating oat creaminess, lightly prickly, sticky & astringent in the aftertaste.

Poured from a bottle into a tulip

A. Pours a nice hazy reddish brown color with a one finger tan head. Looks nice.

S. Sweet malts, a faint celery aroma and caramel full the nose.

T. Nice sweet malts with a little bitterness from hops. A sweet brown sugar type flavor comes through. Finishes with some hop resin, green leafy flavor.

M. Light to medium body. 4 on a 1-10 scale. Nice carbonation.

O. A nice take on a different beer. Definitely had some unique characteristics. It is enjoyable though.

Undated but just purchased 12 oz bottle.

This is first and foremost a hoppy red ale with no clear sign of oatmeal although it may contribute to the relatively smooth feel. Moderately bitter with plenty of tropical fruit notes and some spiciness from the hops. The hops seem more earthy and herbal and less fruity in the nose. Lingering, moderately bitter, hoppy aftertaste.

O: more like a mild red IPA than an normal red ale.

These guys are up to some pretty neat stuff, this is one of their best I've had. It's a frothing dark amber beer, sweet from oats and caramel malt, full bodied and creamy, but hopped like a west coast IPA. Not enough red beer like this out there, it fills a void for me. A comfortable intense balance if gran and hops through the whole taste, minor tropical notes feel sweet with the malt, bigger pine resin and honey hop finish, a beautiful conclusion. It stays creamy even with the bitterness, thank the oats for that. It stays around just a few moments after the swallow, a really robustly flavored brew. Drinkable too though with nice carbonation and a unique enough hop complexion. This is really nice fall beer.
