Bomber from the grocery into a nonic pint, the beer itself is a ruby brown in color with a nice off-white head. The nose opens with juicy citrus hops through a malty foundation of caramel and toasted, fruity red malt. Medium in body with a nice oaty creaminess, moderately carbonated. The palate, similarly, features a moderately sweet start and notes of red malt and caramel cleaning up nicely amongst citrus and pine hops, imparting a lingering, balancing bitterness to the finish. This one turned out better than expected, worth a buy but not really a repeat.

tap

Pours a mildly hazy brownish color with a bit of white lacing.

Smells of mild rye, citrus hops and pine.

Piney hop bitter and floral with some hemp character from the rye.

Medium body with a mild carbonation.

A good interesting ale, different, with a welcome rye character that makes it unique and worth trying.

Bro-in-law brought a bottle of the Loopy for me to try over 4th weekend. The beer pours a nice clear amber with thin white head that is only leaving a spotty lace. The smell was slightly malty and fresh. The taste was a nice malt with slightly sweet start and slightly bitter finish. The mouthfeel was a creamy medium body ale with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a good amber and should be tried if given the opportunity.

A: Slightly hazy brown with a hint of orange. Very thin white head, minimal lacing. Some minor carbonation bubbles in the center.

S: Some earthy hop scents, pine resin, and a hint of citrus.

T: At first I get rich pine flavors and frontal bitterness. Some bread crust in the back of the palate. Not as much malt flavor as I'd like from an American Amber. This beer is very hop forward, but neglects to push the malt flavor along with the hops.

M: The mouthfeel is very nice. There's a bitter bite, but it's not abrasive. It feels like there's enough carbonation to keep flavors moving along the palate.

O: Overall I felt like it was a rather mediocre beer. For hop lovers, I feel that they would enjoy this beer. It has a wealth of hop flavor, and to the beer's credit the label does emphasize this. For amber lovers or beer lovers who enjoy a little more malt flavor, I feel they would feel et down. On a side note, I'm not sure what was gained from the oatmeal in this beer. It didn't taste exceptionally smooth.

a beautiful clean amber color with 2 full fingers of fluffy off white head creating a ton of lacing. smell is of herbal tea like hops, lots of caramel malt. the flavor is much like the scent, except a lot hoppier and tastier.. grassy herbal hops, tons of caramel malt.. delicious and nicely balanced. creamy silky smooth mouthfeel like a stout, medium in body with moderate amount of carbonation. wouldn't really say it was worth the $10 price tag, by far, but i wanted to try i and it's nice to drink something different.
