Solid example of a scotch style ale.

Had on tap at the brewery. I'm surprised at the low ratings for this beer. It is a solid if unremarkable Scotch ale with nice bready caramel notes. Smooth and creamy.

Got a bottle of this on a trip I went on recently with my wife to the Finger Lakes region of New York for a vacation. Poured out of a 12 oz bottle into a snifter glass, this beer pours a clear, deep amber color with some ruby highlights when held up to the light. Has a slightly tan/off-white head that's well over an inch thick when first served before settling to a very thick surface coating, a big ring lining the inside of the glass, and good lacing. Aromas of somewhat toasted, bready caramel malt sweetness and some peat I think. Also a bit of booze. The taste is very similar, with some toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness along with a bit of spice from the wheat and a bit of dark fruit along with a touch of toffee. Not really any discernible hop presence, and that's not unexpected. Has a very smooth and slightly creamy, also slightly crisp, medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a sweet aftertaste. A good beer and a good take on this style.

A-pours a reddish amber with a foamy off white head with good retention and some lacing
S-caramel, some nuttiness, subtle earthy tea like hops
T-more caramel, dry biscuit, nutty
M-medium bodied with average carbonation
O-Not the best version of the style, but an easy drinking brew

Pours - Deep amber color with decent tan head that quickly dissipates no lacing.
Smell - Very sweet but funky and sour at the same time. Malts, sour fruit, little but of apple.
Taste - Oddly enough there was none of the sour taste that was in the smell, pretty sweet taste, malty just a hint of bitterness. Getting some lemon and orange which seems strange but still pretty good.
Feel - Medium body good carbonation great feel.
Overall - I was a little surprised by the sour in the smell and the bit of citrus in the taste but still a solid beer.

Clear with a thin head of tan foam that does not last. COlor is coppery orange. Clear with a steady stream of bubbles. Malty. Caramel with earthy hops. peaty. no smoke. Fruity notes. Taste is smooth and fruity. Lighter than most and a bit nutty. Mouthfeel is a bit thin but bubbles are good and they tingle just a little.
