From notes circa August 2012. Cask conditioned with Cascade & Centennial. Served close to room temp in a 9 oz. snifter.

Look- Dark amber, almost clear, tight coconut head, no lace worth mentioning.

Smell- Caramel, whisky, musky, dank bitterness, mace. Reminds me of mulled wine or spiced rum. +.5 for intrigue, -.5 for booziness.

Taste- The cask aging has treated this one well. Starts with a tealike bitterness that rolls over into lightly spiced cinnamon sugar but doesn't get too sweet. Vaguely brandy-like, hint of vanilla. Rides it out and brings in a bit of citrus. Mellow, loads of flavor, not nearly as bitter as the "standard". I quite like it. Excellent balance.

Mouthfeel- Soft, juicy, clean. Even easier drinking than the normal offering. If anything, it goes down too easily.

Overall- Wow. I snagged this on a whim after trying the standard Narcissus, and it's almost a completely different beer. Not crazy hoppy, nor candy-caramel sweet, it's a delicious and perfectly executed APA with plenty of nuance. I regretted not bringing a growler, even if it would be $30 to fill.
