Hazy burnt orange with not much head.
Citrus aromas. Mostly lemon. Piney, malt and hops.
Taste is very much like the aromas.
Mouth feel is a bit thick but some nice bitterness (175 characters)

Terrible beer that tasted like an old gym sock, practically exploded when opened, now I am stuck with 4 cases of this terrible beer. I made multiple calls to flat 12 (Kentucky location) and was promisied I would be taken care of after this beer axploded where opened making a horrible mess (crappy flavor also). Never heard from flat 12 after the complaint. Called the Kentucky location and spoke with the "manager".. some female.. again.. promised I would be taken care of.. never heard from them again. Called the Indianapolis location about a month later, got the same old story, never heard from anyone.. stuck with 4+ casesd of terrible exploing beer that makes a horrible mess wherever opened. HORRIBLE COMPANY AND WORSE BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (756 characters)

Hazy saturated orange, thin collar of white lacing around the edges. Thin surface skim. Rising trails of visible carbonation.

Mellow malt sweetness in the aroma, dried apricot and earthy green hop resin.

Tastes like a mouthful of raw dandelion greens. Uncompromising green bitterness, resiny and piney. Coats the tongue and remains too long in the aftertaste. Some toasty caramel malt under that. Medium bodied, ample carbonation. Overall it's ok, but not what I look for in an IPA flavor-wise. (496 characters)

Bottled 2/15, 12oz poured into pint

A-pours a murky Amber color with some orange hue and plenty of floaties swimming around, one finger creamy white head retains long after the poor

S- pine and citrus hop forward with a big biscuit malt backbone

T- pine and citrus hop follow the nose quickly followed by some fruity red berry flavor, big toasted malt undertone that finished buiscuity with more red fruit on the close

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a thick and creamy mouthfeel that continues to the finish

O- drinks more like a pale ale, but very drinkable (577 characters)

Had this one out of a 16 oz can at Krueger's Tavern in Cincinnati, and hey, this one was pungent. Taste was super fresh out of the can with a lot of bitter grapefruit/pine going on. Don't think I've ever had a 100+ ibu beer at only 6% abv. Judging by some of the other ratings I had lower expectations on this one. Really enjoyed it though, and I'd be back for more if I saw it around. A great beer for a hop head like me who wants their lupulin fix but doesn't wanna get hammered at 2 pm on a Sunday. (501 characters)

Wow. A gusher? And it's an IPA? I think I got about 8 ounces out of the bottle, at most. Tastes okay. Kind of like a resin tone with the wrong kind of fruits mixed in. Perhaps this is a gusher because the beer is just bad. Either way, lame experience on all ends. (263 characters)

Poured into a perfect pint. Bottle.

3.5 A: Clear light orange color. Two fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is about average and a short ring of lacing is left.

4.0 S: Bright floral and citrusy hops. Grapefruit and pine underneath. Hop forward, but also contains a pleasant caramel and crackery malty backbone. Really nice.

3.75 T: Tastes like it smells. Mild-moderate bitterness. Floral, citrus, grapefruit, and piney hop flavor. Caramel and cracker malt.

4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Moderately creamy and super smooth.

4.0 D: Surprisingly good beer. I had never heard of this brewery until I bought this beer, so I didn't know what to expect. (704 characters)

Wow. Been on BA for years and if I don't like a beer now a full review is needed?
Ok: looks fine. Taste is too English for an ipa with no bite. Didn't enjoy it. (160 characters)

A - Poured copper without head retention.
S - A little sweet with grapefruit and other hops.
T - Like the nose and a malty and bitter aftertaste.
M - Medium body and carbonation.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tulip.

A. Pours a slightly hazed, orangey-gold color reminiscent of a new penny. Head is minimal and recedes to a ring quickly, but leaves some really nice lacing.

S. Hop aroma leaps out of this one. Grapefruit, pine, and cannabis are first, followed by a hint of toasted sugars. There's little if any malt aroma, but a sticky sweetness is barely perceptible hiding beneath the hop onslaught.

T. The flavor follows the nose for the most part. Citrus is up front followed by slight caramel. Then the alpha acids kick in, and man, do they kick. There's a long, lingering bitterness that seems to swell as the beer goes down, leaving an aftertaste of grapefruit peel and woody earth that hangs on the tongue for what seems like an eternity. It's not unpleasant though.

M. This beer is crisp and lively, and the carbonation seems to make the hop flavors pop even more. Despite the overwhelming IBUs, it doesn't seem to call more more body.

O. This is not a well balanced beer, but then again, it doesn't seem like it's supposed to be. As described on the bottle, this is pure hop juice that's borderline sessionable. There's just enough malt backbone to keep the hops from punishing you, and no more. I was surprised to find how eager I was to come back to this one. It may not be the most spectacular IPA out there, but it has an intriguing hop profile that makes it both memorable and approachable. (1,435 characters)

Brilliant deep golden beer with a lingering, frothy cream head. Aroma is floral, resiny, and piney, with a touch of grapefruit pith and bready malt. Flavor reveals resin dominance early, becoming very bitter and somewhat harsh after the bready malt subsides. Fairly solid beer until the finish. Too harsh for my liking. Lingering bitterness makes me want to drink something else. (379 characters)

I do love tall boy cans craft beers, esp IPAs, but doesn't look too great, but still my first beer from this brewery. Thanks to rudzud for leaving this with me.

Pours a nice fluffy fizzy 1.5 finger head that fades at a med pace, decent spotty lacing, semi hazy honey orange colored beer.

NOse brings IPA, but so-so IPA hops, more like an IPA from 10 years ago. big earthy piney slight citrusy hops, a piney resinous forest floor like aroma that can be nice in moderation but a bit much on this one, a little candied orange peel and fluffy candy malts, also a bit of an herbal peppery almost hop oil like note.

Taste is even more out there, hops are there, but different hops than I'm used to, some herbal flavors, a little herbal tea, earthy pine forest floor, some candied orange peel, a bit of an oily pine. It also has some fruity flavors, hard to nail which fruits, but a weird blended fruit kinda thing, A bit of sweet almost toasty grainy malt base, mild sweetness, etc. Back end gets a bit more orange peel and zest like notes, chewy hops, etc. Finish is very bitter, little sticky but mostly dry, long bitter earthy piney hops, gets pretty spicy and chewy as well, a little herbal and oily too.

Mouth is med bod, decent carb.

overall OK, nothing too great, a bit overly on earthy herbal spicy piney hops, quite bitter esp on the finish that just doesn't go away, OK malt base but also not great. It's the style IPA that was good years ago, but these days with the great hop explosion I feel they could have made better hop choices for an IPA, although if this is what they were going for it's not bad. (1,615 characters)

Received as an extra in a trade. Poured into my Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a crystal clear golden hue with a thin one finger head that faded slowly to leave a small half finger blanket.

S - Aromas of sweeter malts, light citrus and pine, faint honey, earthy malts.

T - Taste is more malt forward than hops. Very nice bitter light pine finish that seems to grow the more one drinks. Malts are sweet, lightly earthy, faint grapefruit peel and pine resin. Solid, but malty.

M - Mouthfeel is easy drinking, nice bitter finish. Solid.

O - Overall, a decent enough IPA, however, in today's world of hop bombs this really can't hold up at all. (638 characters)

Pours a hazy, golden/copper color. 3/4 inch head of a white color. Great retention and decent lacing. Smells of citrus hops, floral hops, yeast, sweet malt, slight alcohol, strong pine. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with a high carbonation level. There is also a strong bitterness. Tastes of resin-y hops, slight sweet malt, slight yeast, slight alcohol, hint of earthy malt, and strong pine. Overall, decent appearance, good aroma that is subtle but complex, but the body is not well blended. (529 characters)

A - Cloudy golden orange, with robust off-white head, resolving to a thin band with extensive lacing.

S - Full nose of hops, tilting toward citrus and pine. More wild hop notes (garlic, onion, cat urine) appear as hints, but the main lines are fruit and resin.

T - Sweet malt coupling with strong hops. The taste is less citrus, more pine and grass, playing against a malt line that offers notes of dust and sugar. Close runs straight into bitterness, which builds slowly as you drink.

M - Good carbonation, but bitter drying and resin do build over time.

O - A good, bitter IPA, with a nice malt balance. This is not an ultra clean version, and the fruit is coupled with earthier tones, making for an interesting, and ultimately rewarding, brew. (750 characters)

First time trying this beer. Poured from growler into a pint glass.

A: Pours a clear rich copper with minimal head. If you can get at least a half finger head the lacing holds.

S: Nothing really sticks out, some citrus notes but that's all.

T: A little resin up front, getting that orange, grapefruit, mango citrus flavors. Not much hop bite to it. Pretty balanced, smooth and dry. I was expecting more of a bite, their website says 104.1 IBU. Maybe it's there but you don't taste it. Really sweet undertones.

M: Not bad at all, just wish it had more of a bitter bite. Carbonation is perfect.

O: I enjoyed this beer. Definitely will drink again. The more you drink the more the sweetness comes out. At 6% ABV it's perfect for me in 6 packs. Really true to the style of the beer. (784 characters)

A: Pours a hazy medium golden yellow in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and honey + apricot highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to very thick film covering the entire surface of the beer almost completely evenly and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith, herbal, and pine hops over the top of slightly sweet grainy malts.

T: Upfront there are light flavors of slightly sweet grainy malts which is quickly followed by a strong flavor of hops - aggressive citrus/grapefruit pith followed by light flavors of pine and herbal. Moderate amounts of bitterness that lingers is present.

M: Medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Not as well balanced as some of the other examples of the style, there is a lot more bitterness than there is sweetness from the malts. Easy enough to drink but a touch one-dimensional with the strong dominance of the citrus/grapefruit pith hops. (1,165 characters)

Big thanks to ssidetroller for the cool extra. Enjoyed from a batch 1 BT willie becher.

a - brew poured a semi transparent orange with lots of visible carb racing to the surface. The head was big and frothy and grew after the pour sat. Chunks of lace left on the glass...a bit much, but nice.

s - smell is a big earthy malt with a slap of hops over the top.

t/m - as the nose suggests a malt forward IPA with a nice hop blast on the back end adding some fruit but mostly bitterness to the finish. Super duper drinkable though. I could finish the entire bottle in one slug since it is so soft and easy drinking.

o - overall comes across as more of a pale than an IPA (in today's world of hop bombs). I really dig it and would have it again, but this isn't the kind of beer I look for when I crave an IPA. Great session-ish pale though for when you don't want the hop assault. (878 characters)

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A- A very slight haze in a bright golden orange beer. A one finger white head.

S- Citrus, pine, burnt sugar

T- Big bitterness at first for this IPA. The hop profile takes over. Very citrusy, sticky and fresh. An herbal garden note and a lingering spice on the end. Malt bill is on the sweeter size but allows most of the beers focus on the Hops.

M- Medium bodied, on the bitter side.

O- A solid IPA and an easy drinker. (463 characters)

Pours medium amber/orange. Minimal head, but good lacing on glass and on top. Hoppy but not smack your tongue hoppy. Mouth feel is well bodied & refreshing. Aftertaste not overly bitter and doesn't last long. First offering I've tried from Flat 12, but will try more. Looking forward to their tasting room in nearby Jeffersonville IN. (334 characters)

12 oz.

Pours a slightly hazy gold, fluffy eggshell head is fairly immense and retains pretty much indefinitely.

Smells of light clover honey and fresh floral hops.

Tastes of fresh piney and floral hops and mild honey sweetness with some biscuit malt base.

Medium body with tingly carbonation on the roof of the mouth.

A flavorful and fresh IPA with a clean flavor and a slightly richer maltiness than you might expect, drinks pretty easy and enjoyably. Worth trying. (474 characters)

On tap at Buffalo Wild Wings in Indianapolis on 2/7/14.

Appearance:
Hazy orange, nice hefeweizen look

Smell:
Faint orange, not strong but quite unique compared to other IPAs I have had.

Taste:
Pine resin, very strong bitter up front. Orange rind, bitter grapefruit notes.

Mouthfeel:
Medium body, nice carbonation.

Overall:
Walks the fine line between "generic bitter" IPA and complex brew with the citrus notes. A lot of flavor here! (438 characters)

Poured from the can a slightly hazed orange color with two fingers of rich white head. Loads of sticky lacing left behind. Very attractive.

Aroma of light orange citrus, earth, and caramel malts.

Bitter hoppy notes of orange peeland grass along with some caramel maltiness.

Medium bodied and sticky with a moderate carbonation.

Growler from The Filling Station East Nashville poured into a pint glass.

A: Pours a clear copper, with a creamy off-white head. Pretty lacing.

S: Bits of citrus and pine, but nothing strong.

T: Hop forward and piney. The hop bite is short. Smooth finish that becomes dry but not bitter.

M: Medium feel. Carbonated just right.

O: A solid IPA that hints at more. More hop forward than expected, but those hops quickly give way to a smooth dryness. Very sessionable. Could pass for a DIPA for just a second, but then reveals itself as a just-fine IPA. (555 characters)

i've found my new favorite IPA. my father in law purchased a 6 pack at Kroger. he said it was $8.99 a 6 pack, which i felt was much more reasonable than some of the others out there. very crisp, clean, not too many IBUs. poured perfectly into my pint glass. love the color and feel on the tongue. (296 characters)
