Bottle from CWBlues, thanks bud! 12oz into a tulip.

Fairly black with a tan head, decent lacing and a film of retention. Nose of coffee, chocolate and chocolate dipped waffle cones. A bit of Coffee Crisp centres, but not espresso. Taste has bitter coffee, a light creamy character, some bitter hopping, with a long roasty finish. Medium body that fits this very well, and medium low carbonation. A very easy drinking porter, wish this was local to me.

Pours into a standard pint glass a deep roasted chesnut brown with a huge overflowing tan colored head, the glass is three quarters head and a quarter beer, somwething went wrong here just way to over carbonated.Aromas are deeply chocolaty with good roast as well, some earth and even a hint of mint. The feel is very prickly and sharp wich takes away from a really good flavor profile.Flavors of bitter chcolate and earthy with some light brown sugar-like sweetness.Something is obviously up with my bottle because you can tell this is a quality porter.

(Served in a dimple mug)
A- A giant CO2 blast when popping the caps lead to a glass full of foam that wasn’t letting go for some time. Eventually a deep black body starts to show up at the base with pretty strong carbonation of big bubbles fueling the head.

S- The big black coffee roasted malt really comes through. It is a nice big bold aroma but doesn’t have a lot of other aromas with it.

T- The dark black roasted malt has dark coffee flavors with some brewer’s licorice and a soft black barley roasted bitterness in the finish. The fizz cleans the dry finish of much flavor and the bitterness is very short.

M- The medium-light mouthfeel has a tight fizz and no real alcohol heat.

O- This beer has a nice big black coffee malt flavor that becomes a bit to much coffee to really be sessionable but still has nice flavor. The big CO2 issues happened with the whole 6 pack and didn’t seem like an infection just a pressure bottling issue. Nice tasty stout beer for the winter.

Light pouring of this ruby-tinged black ale resulted in an overwhelming surplus of tan suds. Too much, in fact. This flood finally gave way to loopy but disorganized lacing upon the glass. Messy beginning.

Nose is a dark chocolate, some caramel, and an unusual woody, burnt char. Interesting and different.

Flavor is big and bold, with burnt wood again up front. As it warms, more bittersweet chocolate comes through, but, above and beyond, the woody char seems most prominent. A unique, and unexpectedly tasty porter.

Pours a very dark brown with some purpley tints. No haze. The head is fairly thick, 2-3 fingers and a nice light brown color. Good retention and a heavy lace.

Got a great smell to it. All kinds of malty backbone, with a subtle nose of cocoa and coffee. Charcoal.

Tastes like a smoked porter. Charred charcoal, burnt toast, bittersweet chocolate.

Very creamy at first, then the remnants of a house fire kick in. Has an ashy, smokey, chalky, scorched feel that provides some bitterness to offset any sweetness from the malts.

An easy beer to drink, particularly if you like rauchbiers. Could use a bit more alcohol, but overall, a good beer.

Visited Flat 12 today and was thoroughly impressed!

A:Very dark with a nice tan head that lingered nicely with great lacing.

S:Malty, very chocolaty, a little bit of coffee.

T:First thing I tasted was chocolate awesomeness! Probably the best chocolate taste I have had in a porter.

M:Not too heavy and great carb, awesome!

O:Definitely try this one if you like porters at all or if you want to expand your tastes!

Poured from 64oz growler. Thanks to Lukafer for getting a growler of this.

A- Pours a deep dark brown color. Two finger tan head shows good retention. Nice sheet style lacing with some webbing later on as I drank it down.

S- Roasted malts come out first in the nose. Light hints of chocolate covered darker fruits. The roasted flavors come out more in the background toward the ending in coffee notes.

T- Roasted coffee flavor on the front end of the beer. I liked how this slowly changed to a light chocolate flavor toward the middle. There is light darker fruit in the middle as well but hte chocoalte covers this up. Ending flavor on this is more darker chocolate with a hint of light alcohol. No hops in the ending which for some reason I expected.

M- Light medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is good for the beer. Light roasted and chocolate malts left on the palate. Aftertaste is mostly chocolate with fading light alcohol. Flavors were well blended to the style. No off flavors were present in the beer. Light drying on the palate from the alcohol.

D- I found this beer to be very drinkable. Lower ABV means this one can be enjoyed by sipping or drinking. Flavors were very well put together . Nice first beer from this company. Will be looking forward to having more from them!

Pours a light brown and black in the glass, a thin layer of parchment colored foam on the surface that dwindles quickly, leaving behind a sudsy ring around the edge and sticking drippy lacing.

Mellow chocolatey aroma, light esters when swirled.

Chocolate covered banana, dark chocolate, ashy roast. Dry charred bitterness in the aftertaste. Feel is a little thin, but it has plenty of flavor. Lingering flavors of roastiness last a long time. A nice drinkable Porter.

Thanks to Howard for this one!

12 ounce bottle. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a quarter inch tan head that went away quickly. There's a decent amount of lacing. The aroma is nice, it smells like roasted malt, chocolate, and a bit of coffee. The brew tastes like roasted/charred malt, bittersweet chocolate, coffee, nuts and some light hops. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's creamy and easy to drink with moderate carbonation. I think this is a good overall porter, I know I'd buy it again. Definitely worth trying!

A: Nice deep dark brown with minimal light penetration around egdes of the glass. Produces a one-finger, tan head that fades very quickly. This is where I would say the appearance could be improved. The lacing is quite good, however.

S: Fairly sweet chocolate, caramel, and coffee

T: Classic porter. Slightly sweet coffee followed by slight alcohol and bittersweet chocolate and a little smokiness. No unexpected surprises.

M: My favorite aspect of the beer. GREAT medium body and appropriate carbonation. Just great.

O: Awesome classic porter. Hits most of the desired porter characteristics. This is a great beer, but nothing unique to really set it apart. Balance is its strength.

Thanks to JM03 for sharing!

Pretty solid pour. Mostly black body, with a light tan, spongy head. Left lots of nice lacing.

Wow, this is a coffee-laden beast! Huge coffee roast notes, with some sweet rich chocolate. Quite nice!

Taste has some more nice big roasted coffee notes. Some bits of chocolate, with a quite pronounced bitter hop finish. Don't get any hops elsewhere, so maybe it's a coffee bitter combo. Either way, breaks up the sweet/roast notes nicely.

It has a solid creamy mouthfeel, with an upper-medium body. Carbonation is appropriate and all around nice feel.

Quite the enjoyable porter. I love the coffee notes and it's great drinkability!

Thanks for the hookup, John!

Pours dark brown to black with a ridiculously creamy 2 fingers of head leaving excellent lacing and retention.

Smells of roasted coffee, chocolate and a little bit of sweet maltiness.

Taste is similar. Lots of roast and this one is on the dryer roastier side for porters which I prefer. Some chocolate as well ending with a light bitterness.

Very creamy mouthfeel with a medium carbonation level.

Great local beer and a good go to that can be easily found on the shelves. Very glad they started bottling. This is probably one of the best "normal" porters I've had.

12 oz bottle, 5.5% abv. Deep brown color, with chestnut highlights. Mocha head holds strong for a few minutes, eventually fading to a thin layer. A nice coating of lace on the sides of the glass.

Roasty malts, with a great mocha, vanilla, caramel smell. A little coffee, and milk chocolate in the nose as well.

Mouth is similar to the nose here. Roasty and a bit dry up front. A nice hit of coffee and bittersweet dark chocolate. A bit of caramel as well. Dry finish as well. A flash of vanilla at the end. Just enough bitterness to round things out.

Medium body, maybe just a touch on the light side. Nice carbonation here, keeping things on the softer side. Alcohol is a non factor. A very easy to drink porter with nice character.
