One of my favorite porters. I prefer stouts and this has the roasted smell of a stout with the feel of a porter.
Looks very dark with a of dark red in the light of the edges. Smells like a stout , roasted malts, a bit of cocoa, tastes like someone poured half porter and half stout into a glass , not a bad thing to me.
I really like this porter and I would have rated it higher but it is really carbonated a lot.
Head huge without an agressive pour. Best Flat 12 beer I have tried and I buy on a regular basis. My go to winter porter.

I do not really care for flat 12 beers, but this is an exception. I had this a couple times a enjoyed it. Even turned it into a beer float!

Another courtesy of Kurmaraja. Poured into straight pint glass. Poured a very dark brown, just shy of black, with 1/4 inch of light brown head that had decent retention and low lacing.

The aroma was very good, nice, rich, full, grainy malts, with some roasty background notes. On the tongue however, those roast tones (BTW, wouldn't The Roast Tones be a great name for a throw back R&B band?) totally took over. The malt held up a bit across the front and middle, but, at the back end, were so strong as to be coffee-ish, and I hate coffee.

The body was on the full side of medium, definitely a tongue-coater, but not heavy or sticky, although the roast aspects did linger. Drinkability was pretty good, although that will vary with ones tolerance of the roast/coffee aspects. Overall, a very nice brew, one i think most beer drinkers would enjoy more than I did, especially if they're java junkies.

Aroma is dark chocolate and espresso dominant, with notes of toasted, nutty malt. Flavor is deeply roasty, opening with coffee, which carries throughout. Notes of chocolate and toasted nuts arrange throughout. There's a touch of an underlying acrid character, but it cleans up by the time the lightly bitter, roasty finish surfaces. More roast malt and coffee than chocolate, but not by much.
