From a growler, this fine porter pours a thick brownish red with a nice thick tan head of tight
bubbles and great lacing. Nose of dark roasted coffee, dark chocolate, earth roasted goodness,
and a dash of molasses. Flavors are bitter coffee to the front, dark chocolate sweetness to the
sides, and a nice lingering bitterness of roasted grains to the back with a hint of black strap
molasses rounding it out with a slight bit of bittering hops in the background. The carbonation
keeps it lively. A stout drinkers session brew.

Having had this in a bottle I can attest to the odd displacement of carbonation in the bottle
form. The growler is much better with a more even amount of character throughout.

Bought in a 12 oz. bottle at a grocery in Elkhart, IN. Poured into a glass.

Mahogany brown liquid with a giant fluffy light tan head (pour this one slowly!)

Aroma is rich and toasty.

I like this beer but I think it is more in the stout territory than a porter. Lots of toasted char, coffee, some red wine, raisins and molasses. Some hops in the background. Lingering taste that plays between being sweet and dry.

Mouthfeel is medium-full. Maybe a tinge too much carbonation.

I knocked this beer down a 1/4 point because it very much a stout and not a porter. But otherwise I liked it. It reminds me a lot of Bridgeport Blackstrap Stout.

A - Dark black, brown highlights, with a small tan head that reduces to a thin line that laces significantly.

S - Roasted malt, with a rich coffee and chocolate nib waft. Smells delicious.

T - The char of blackened toast, coffee grounds, and a hint of hop bitterness. Chocolate and coffee are lingering behind the more aggressive roasted malt elements, and they trail long after the swallow.

M - Sharp zip of bitterness, moderate carbonation, some silkiness, but still pretty light on the tongue.

O - This is a good porter. I'd dial the char back a bit, but I think the overall effect is attractive and tasty.
