Don’t let the color deceive you, this beer is lighter than it looks and packs a big hop punch.

Loaded with 5 different American hops, Nunmoere is a complex blend of roasted malts and fragrant hops.

From a bottle into a pilsner glass.

A: dark black color with 1/2 inch of thick head that last the duration if the drink. Tons of thick lace in the glass.

S: huge whiff or roasted malts and black licorice his you right in the face.

T: malts malts malts. Hops on the finish is just enough to balance the toasty flavor.

M: heavy mouth feel. Coats well and lasts

O: this beer was really high in carbonation. I would love to try a less carbonates sample

Appearance: Very dark ruby color that looks black out of direct light, with a fine, dark tan head.

Aroma: Strong aroma of roasted coffee beans, and some tobacco/ash.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Immediately noticeable on the tongue is a strong, bitter, dry coffee flavor with some cigar ash close to the finish. The finish is dry and bitter, like strong black coffee, but there is a soft note of vanilla in it as well. I would liken some of the flavor to the oils from a pressed coffee bean; very strong, acrid, and intensely bitter.

Final Word: Again, this brew is intensely bitter! Not only is it a beer brewed with dark roasted malts, but also a lot of hop additions as well, which means that what bitterness you don’t get from the coffee malts you’ll get instead from the strong hop presence. It feels like a coffee stout for hop heads, as there is only just enough sweetness in there to keep the beer from completely overwhelming you, and the profile is noticeably more bitter than the coffee stouts you’d like to initially compare it to. The quality of the flavors in this beer is still very good, and both hop and coffee lovers will be in heaven, but the ashy, acrid bitterness will overwhelm many other drinkers who aren’t prepared for the wallop this beer delivers. The similarity to strong black coffee actually warrants a pairing with breakfast foods, though I’m not recommending waking up with this beer! Try it if you love hops and black coffee, but avoid it if you can’t handle said ingredients or are looking for a sweeter, more well rounded dark beer.
