The bottle my buddy opened had to have been infected. Smelled and tasted sour, bitter. Not crazy carb like you sometimes find with infection but there is no way this is what was intended. If I have it again I will revise provided it is different.
If it is what was intended...no thank you.

Notes from yesterday's share.
Pours as expected, with a nearly black body with some brown on the edges and a small, tan colored head. Just a light bit of lacing. Smell of the beer is light to medium dark and burnt malts that are dry, immediately followed by the vanilla, which is mild to moderate in strength. There is a hint of chocolate scent right at the end. The taste follows the scent fairly closely. The roasted malts are less prominent in the taste than the scent, and the vanilla is ramped up a bit. Towards the back end, the fairly strong vanilla flavor moves a little toward a metallic flavor. The beer isn't very thick on the tongue, but is smooth and very easy drinking.
Overall, the vanilla is a nice touch to this beer in the taste category, even with a bit of an off flavor on the back end. I wish it were a little thicker to really be a good, creamy beer. Other than that, this is a solid porter/lighter stout.

L: black with a film of head that dissipates fast
S: big vanilla and sweet milk chocolate
T: big vanilla, sweet chocolate, some coffee/ dark roasty notes.
F: the flavors coat my mouth well, but it has a thin body. But it's not the thickness of an imperial / double stout.
O: it's fantastic, I hope they start putting vanilla in it every year.
