A - Poured out a jet-black color with a three-finger, light brown head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass.

S - It smelled of chocolate, toffee and roasted oats.

T - Good roasty flavor with nice chocolate and coffee taste. Some sweet caramel and toffee in the background, too.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - This is a good stout. $9.99 for a 750 is a bit steep for a low ABV stout, though.

Pours black with a fingers worth of tan head. Smell is roasty, a little bit of chocolate, and some coffee as well. The flavor follows the nose but with the coffee being more present. The feel is quite what you'd expect from a stout but it doesn't take away from the beer. This is pretty good stout. It's pretty easy to drink as well with the ABV being 7 percent.

A: Dark brown tending towards black with a small one finger head. Some spotty lacing.

S: Slight smokiness and roasted malts. Coffee.

T: Coffee. Burnt caramel mixed with toffee.

M: Full bodied but not thick.

O: Drinks more like a porter than a stout. Easy drinking with good flavors.

Solid stout! Thick inky appearance. Smells of roasted coffee. Great follow up on the taste, lots of coffee, even roast balance. Very smooth. Loved it. Great coffee stout! Love 2nd Shift!!

Pours a black color. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Slight retention and slight lacing. Smells of roasted malt, slight sweet malt, and dry hop. Fits the style of an American Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of roasted malt, coffee, hint of sweet malt, and slight dry hop. Overall, good blend and feel; the coffee is especially delicious.

Bottle from gregwilsonstl, thanks for the opportunity!
Dark brown/black color with a huge bubbly tan head that attempts to pour itself despite the 35 degrees that the bottle is sitting at. Sweet milk chocolaty malt with bits of creamed coffee and a touch of lactose. Smooth creamy mouthfeel surprisingly the mouthfeel isn't overly bubbly. Tasty sweet stout actually.

Thanks to queens1130 for sharing this one at GRG1313's tasting.

Bottled 1/2014.

Pours an opaque super dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, vanilla, and coffee bean aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa, brewed coffee, and char flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a low level of carbonation with an almost flat and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with solid aromas and flavors, but the mouthfeel is off in my opinion.

Serving type: bottle.
