Notes/Commercial Description:
Don't know what to call it besides a Brett Beer. This one gets aged for 3 months in oak barrels with Brettanomyces Lambicus, a cool yeast that gives this beer a wonderfully pretty aroma and flavor that everyone better like or else I'll look you up and teach you a lesson.

Bomber poured into pint glass.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a 3 finger white head that leaves little lacing. Smells of soap, funk, and some fruits. Nice euro yeast smell as well. Taste is pretty light but refreshing. Plenty of dough and fruit and a nice sour finish. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Overall very good. I like the funk.

Pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out bretty upfront, with citrus fruits, some light tropical fruits and some light tartness. Flavor brings out lemony fruits, with some dusty citrus fruit skins, brett funk, a touch of banana, some peach creamsicle, and dry wheaty notes. Very highly drinkable, but there wasn't a lot of brett characteristics.

Finally getting around to reviewing this from my notes after trying it on tap at Beer Kitchen back on December 20th, 2013. Poured into a standard 16 oz tumbler glass.

Appearance - Body is a hazy mix of shades of yellow, with notes of lemon and spun gold throughout. A little darker up near the top, where the light is diffused by the haze and shaded by the head. Near the bottom of the glass, it appears a bit more translucent. The aforementioned head is a finger thick and stark white. Nice frothy suds with some slightly larger bubbles intermittently around the edge of the glass. Lacing is visible and leaves sparse rings around the side of the glass as I drink.

Smell - Very light in nature, with notes of citrus zest, lemon juice, pale wheat malt, as well as some grass and green herbal overtones. Subsequent inhaling reveals a bit of musty woodiness and funk from the Brett. Overall, it's a rather ethereal aroma and gives me the impression that it would be a good warm weather beer.

Taste - A little more subdued than I was hoping for. I love Brett beers that are all up in your face with that funky, dry fruit essence that is so common for the yeast. This one in many ways reminds me of a completely different style--Berliner Weissebier--at least the versions I've sampled from here in the U.S.. Rather than being aggressively funky, it imparts essence of biscuit alongside a lemony tartness that doesn't ever reach a feeling of full-on sour. Pleasant and unassuming flavors that would work well with a host of foods, as long as they weren't super rich.

Mouthfeel - Light bodied and moderate carbonation. Predominantly dry finish.

Overall, my first sampling from the regional 2nd Shift Brewery. And it was plenty tasty enough for me to now start seeking out their beers with some regularity. Hopefully this is the start of some really stellar beers. Would likely get this one again if I needed a local and easy-to-get Brett fix.

Poured from the bottle a cloudy straw yellow with one finger to bubbly white head.

The aroma was tart lemon and white grapes with an earthy funk to it.

The tart lemon and white grape were present in the taste along with hints of floral and earthy brett notes through the finish.

Light-to-medium bodied, crisp and dry with a sharp carbonation.

A fairly straight forward and easy drinking Wild Ale but nothing out of the ordinary.

Poured into a tulip glass from a 750ml bottle.
Bottled: 9/2013

Pours a slightly hazy pale straw golden yellow color with a thin but dense clean white head. The head recedes pretty quickly and there is a nice white ring that stays around the glass till the end.

Aroma is yummy. Notes of white grape skin. Vinous sweetness with some slight tart notes. Some nice woody funk is very prevalent and waters the palette. Mild lemony tartness in the nose can be perceived as well. Pretty funky and dry with notes of hay and some barnyard notes.

Flavor starts off with dry vinous white grape notes. Slight fruit sweetness from the grapes followed up quick by more vinous dryness and mild tartness. Notes of Bretty funk with some grainy notes and some hay as well as some musty grape notes. The brew is dry throughout he middle and finishes dry with some mild fruit sugary sweetness that pops up along with the grape tartness. The woody notes are pretty great and as expected the brew finishes dry and mildly tart.

Overall. I curse myself for not giving this brew a chance sooner. It is well crafted. The Brett funk is wonderful for such a fresh bottle. Notes of grain, white wine and wood. Nice job.
