Style: American Wild Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Don't know what to call it besides a Brett Beer. This one gets aged for 3 months in oak barrels with Brettanomyces Lambicus, a cool yeast that gives this beer a wonderfully pretty aroma and flavor that everyone better like or else I'll look you up and teach you a lesson.

Bomber poured into pint glass.

Pours a hazy yellow color with a 3 finger white head that leaves little lacing. Smells of soap, funk, and some fruits. Nice euro yeast smell as well. Taste is pretty light but refreshing. Plenty of dough and fruit and a nice sour finish. Mouthfeel is light and crisp. Overall very good. I like the funk.

750ml bottle sealed with orange pressure cap.

poured into HF wine stem.

Appearance: this beer looks like berlinner weiss. Very light colored and pale yellow if you can call it yellow at all. Thick white cap that drops to no head.

Smell: wheat malt. fruity and lightly acidic. oaky and full on brett presence. Wine wine barrel influence is sensed in the aroma as well.

Taste: Nice light acidic bite. Fruity and very noticable brett funk presence. Chardonnay barrel presence is unmistakable. Bright clean acidic fresh tasting beer.

Mouthfeel: light body with low carbonation. The beer has a solid dryness that is really something good and actually makes that low carbonation become something that is off set. Very drinkable with that nice light acidic presence.

Overall: This is a great brett beer. Its one type of beer that I wish was made on a regular basis and was more widely available type of beer. This is my first 2nd shift beer. I would like to try more.

Bottled on 01/20014. 750mL bottle with cap. Bright, pale yellow with a slight haze, thin white lace. Lemon zest aroma, yeast, slight funk, white pepper, and cidery edge. Thin, crackery, semi-tart, lemony, stone fruits, nectarine, peach skin, phenolic/medicinal, oaky, pepper, apples, vinous, dry, cidery and earthy finish.

Acidic, but not overwhelming. Barrel-aging really helped mellow and meld things. Lots of stone fruit character. Quite enjoyable.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a yellow color with very little head that disappears quickly. Sour smell from the brett and a great taste. The mouthfeel has just the right amount of carbonation and tartness. Not too sour but gives just enough pucker to make it a great wild ale. 2nd Shift continues to impress!

Light gold to straw yellow in color with great clarity. There's a fingernail of bright white on top. Aroma is of green apples, pear, and faintly tart Brett. The taste is primarily pear and green apple with faint light malt. The Brett character is very subdued here. The mouth is moderately carbonated and very dry.

Opaque yellow pour with two finger white head. Nice aroma with lemon and citrus dominating. Taste is nice between the lemon and citrus fruit flavor but finishes with a nice brett pickup. Nice an light, quiet enjoyable on a hot humid day and easy to put down. Nice beer overall.
