A monstrously big black ale aged for 8 months in eight year old Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels. Flavors of vanilla, coconut, chocolate, coffee, cherry and bourbon are matched by the warming effects of the brew.
2014 - Aged 8 months in Belle Mead bourbon barrels.

Nothing super complex, but a very nice BA stout. Lots of vanilla, especially in the finish. Impressive!

Had on tap. Matte black with a creamy brown head with moderate lacing. Bourbon with smoky earth, char, molasses, and dark chocolate in the nose. Taste adds leather, otherwise just as the nose foretold. Rugged feel with robust roasted malt, strong but not overpowering barrel, chewy and warm. A throwback to keep you warm on a cold night

25 month aged Indignant varient on draft at Haymarket.
Black bodied beer with thick cap. Aroma of fudge and barrel notes, this does not smell boozey. Flavor is outstanding! Base stouts is milk chocolate and fudge mixed together. Barrel notes of dry oak, vanilla, bourbon, and light char / smoke. Mouthfeel is middle of the road; not thick and not thin either. Drinks to the stated abv; remains nice without any harsh booze. This is excellant. I would make more frequent stops at Haymarket if this was frequently available on draft or even to go bottles.

This was my last beer last night on my first visit to Haymarket, a place I had been meaning to visit for a while.
The 10oz serving was the right size , but I know from everything I observed that these folks know better it was served ice cold.
Pitch black with trace of head that settled quickly. Woulda loved seeing what this looked like poured at 50 degrees. Somewhat muted nose, except for the bourbon.
Very pleasant feel on the mouth , and throat taking small sips.
As it approached room temperature the wood, candy, malt and whiskey came to life. A desert beer and a very good one.
