This beer is retired; no longer brewed.

We wanted to make something super small so we would have something to drink all day at our popup bar without falling over. Then, we figured there's a bock and a doppelbock so why not half of one? It didn't work. Well, the beer did but John stood up on the bar half naked and drunkenly rambled at everyone for unknown reasons. Or, as he tells the story, “I was calmly drinking a bottle of rum and then woke up at home."

Drank a couple too tree of these at the Off Color event at Black Rock.
If I "drank like a kid again" it would mean projectile vomiting a fifth of Early Times.

After multiple drafts, it was clear this was the sessionable choice from the clutch of options. Dark golden orange, a flurry of lasting white foam on the surface that lasted a good long while.

Flavor was surprisingly not sweet and rather quite dry in the finish. Very bready with ample supporting yeast character, and clean crackery malts. Really dig the dry bock prototype here, it was light bodied and eminently drinkable.

Overall it was enjoyable, look forward to future batches. (648 characters)

On-tap at Haymarket and Black Rock Pub. Served in small pint glasses both times.

A - Finger-plus of white foam features good retention and leaves behind splotches of lace. Lightly hazed golden body.

S - Yeasty bread, toasted cereal grains, lightly grassy and earthy hops.

T - The taste is similarly bready, cereal grains, a touch of buttered biscuit pilsner malt, and a kiss of sugary sweetness. Less grassy hop than the aroma, and low bitterness.

M - Medium body, toasty, dry texture, clean finish, pleasant moderate carbonation. No obvious alcohol, and very session-friendly.

D - Half bock is an accurate descriptor. This is like have liquid bread in a glass - best description I can come up with is a German small beer. Nothing crazy, but I wasn't expecting anything wild here. (785 characters)
