Notes/Commercial Description:
The West Coast comes to Jax with this extremely hoppy, true India Pale Ale. Our two-row malted barley and caramel malt come to life with a ?@!#-ton of Northwest hops. We use 4 different hops during the brewing process and during dry hopping. It’s music to your nose.

Cloudy, copper-orange. Thick, two finger, off-white head turns to a pretty solid cap. Good lacing.

Extremely resinous right off the bat. Pine and resin are definitely the dominant force. Some grapefruit sneaks past after it sits a little bit.

Just like the nose the pine resin rules the taste. Get a sense of malt before finishing earthy and floral. Slightly resinous aftertaste. Medium body with good prickly carbonation.

Pretty straight forward. Easy drinker. No complaints, but I can easily grab an assortment of comparable brews off any shelf.

on tap at the brewery

Poured a crystal clear amber with a very durable off-white head that left good lacing.

Aroma and flavor reflect more piney than citrusy hops; so not my ideal. Some herbal aspects mid-taste on. Moderately bitter (for style). Body is smooth but a tad too light. Very good carbonation.

O: a solid IPA with no apparent flaws but not particularly outstanding in any way.

12 oz can into a pint glass. Big thanks go to Stakem for hauling this one back from FL for me.

Pours a clear copper, with a couple fingers of foamy bright-white head. This maintains roughly a ½ finger or so of rich froth, which soaps the sides of the glass with lace. The aroma smells of pine, grapefruit, and spice, with a big underlying malty push of grainy toast and some sweeter caramel. The nose definitely has some flavor to it but overall isn’t very airy in the nostrils.

The taste is at least a bit more forceful with the hops, with a zesty grapefruit character and herbal tones that are buffered underneath by a malty backbone of toasted grains and caramel. This is definitely more balanced than the nose; with this finishing fairly aggressive as pith and pine stick to the tongue after each sip. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a firm creaminess that fills up the mouth but then glides along on some underlying oiliness. This has a little bit of warmth to it as well, which really brings out that assertive finish at times.

There were definitely some things to like here but the maltiness of the nose made me think that maybe this can had some age on it. It’s hard to say since the balance improved a lot in the taste once this warmed. I was intrigued enough though to check it out if I ever run across it again.

A- pours bright-orange copper in color with a two-finger white creamy head, long retention

S- pine and citrus hop with some grapefruit notes, a bit of caramel malt sweetness

T- citrus hop, grapefruit notes, pine notes mid-palate, the back-end is quite sweet with caramel malt flavors. Dry finish with a lingering resin hop and tropical notes

M- medium body with moderate carbonation, somewhat thin mouthfeel with a bit of a foamy finish

O- some good flavors coming through, but they seem just a little off balance. Still enjoyable and easy drinking fie the ABV.

This had tons of life with loads of bubbly carbonation but the color seemed a tad light. The color was somewhere between a yellow and an orange but relatively clear.

The aromas were strong on the onion, earthy, humid forest type but then turned fruity with grapefruit and orange rind. Very interesting.

The flavor seemed less diverse with a floral start and an orange rind finish. The finish is quite bitter with a harsh and astringent feel.

It's always tricky to review beers that seem to be well received but your experience is not up to that standard. I'll have to try it again in hopes I find it better.

Got this one thru a trade.... an extra that was more than a sleeper....
Drank it straight from the can so disregard the appearance score... and the smell mostly as I smelt it thru the can...

Smell.... dank hops... piney resin, grapefruit... and fresh... smelt very good..

Taste... instant dank resinous hops hits and stays to the back top of your mouth thru the finish and well into the aftertaste... slight citrus pineapple/grapefruit sweetness in there...

Mouthfeel was well carbonated medium to heavy body with a nice crispness to it..

Overall I was very surprised... this was a very good beer from start to finish.. in my opinion it rivals with the likes of its California brothers... don't have it by me but if I was in a store that had my other favorites too... I'd buy this one once every 4 or 5 times..
