A - Pours with one finger of white foam on top of a hazy, dark golden body. The foam settles rapidly and leaves little lace.

S - Fruity, slightly spicy yeast, mostly bubblegum and clove, with a bit of biscuity malt in the background.

T - Thick malt up front with a noticeable wheat note. Lots of yeast character comes out in the middle and it is dominated by bubblegum with some smoky clove in the background. The beer finishes with a swelling clove note and some spicy hops as well as moderate bitterness and a parting shot of creamy wheat.

M - Medium-thick body, moderate carbonation, and a somewhat dry finish.

D - Not bad, certainly drinkable, but it really doesn't hit the mark the way it should. The yeast character is Belgian only in the least subtle sense; the bubblegum and clove character is way too strong and blows any depth and nuance away. The malt is likewise poorly treated with a dominant wheat note and none of the rich, pilsner malt that should be present in the style. Fortunately, it doesn't finish overly sweet, but the fruity yeast and thick wheat make it seem flabby and totally lacking in the crisp, refreshing finish that better examples of the style show. Part of the problem here may be lack of conditioning (it doesn't seem like it spent a lot of time in the tank), but the yeast character is just not what it should be IMO. Still, it is a new brewery and this is the first Belgian beer that I have seen them brew. Based on the dramatic and rapid improvements that their American styles have seen since the first couple of batches, I am optimistic that the Belgians will come together in time as well.

A: served too cold in the old 14oz shaker glass. redish to yellow pale in color. no head as it was well too cold. I guess? Too little carbonation? anyway its looks like a typical APA. no lacing. clear body.

S: too hoppy for style, typical of this brewer, one can always tell the west coasters. very little sweetness as required by the style. no funk, no Belgian yeast, so might as well tell the truth its another APA. lacks malt, lacks sweetness. too filtered.

T: decent, refreshing as any typical run of the mill APA. again way too hoppy for style, unbalanced beer. bitter hopped too much.

M: was the best part of this beer. smooth. refreshing

O: was a decent first attempt I guess, sadly I made better @ home myself.

Poured on-tap at the brewery in JAX, this beer was poured in a pint glass. The beer is a bright yellow-gold color, slightly hazy, with a thin white head and a decent lacing along the glass while you drink. Aroma is light, with cinnamon and nutmeg, and a little bit of dark fruit sweetness, like fig flavors. Taste is light, with some slightly toasted malts and good spice characteristics. The beer has a smooth, crisp finish with a slight spicing to the aftertaste. Decent brew.
