Poured a bold, dark black with a 2-3 finger head with the usual sour ale lace patches (out of a pint bottle). Was caught a bit off guard by the literal "black" coloring, and my brain didn't even know what to do when I had my first taste. Tastes like a nice, bright Rodenbach but with a hint of Bourbon through the finish and a very unique tartness all to its own. I'm a sour connoisseur, and was on the hunt for a great local sour upon my returning home for the 4th. Extremely satisfied with this sour and honestly impressed. Can't wait for their blonde sour aged with strawberries to be released on 7/25. Reaver Beach is serious!

Poured a black body with two finger head and lace patches. Aroma has funky barnyard sensibility mixed with dark fruits like currants and figs (touch of plum). While puckering sour at times, the beer is balanced with a tart black cherry profile along with some dark fruit sweetest (possible vanilla sweetness from barrels). Barrels add a woody, boozy touch to finish and smooth things over so this is never too tart or sour.

Had this on draft at the release...very impressive. Moderate on the sour scale and extremely easy to drink on a nice day.
