look: 3.5 | smell: 3 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3 | overall: 3.5

A: Dark brown to black with a ruby tinge only when held to the light, and a 3 finger creamy dark chocolate head that fades fast leaving no trace of lace.

S: Coffee, dark chocolate, dark roasted malts, mocha. Not getting the coconut.

T: Dark chocolate, coffee, coconut comes in several times, the first like coconut water, after a brief pause like fresh green coconut, the kind you only get in Thailand or some tropical destination. Slight metallic note. Not getting the coconut on the second sip.

M: Medium body, little to no carbonation.

O: A decent porter lacking carbonation, lacking coconut taste in my opinion, but a great label on the can and appealing idea. At moments I really get the coconut, and other moments I search for it and don’t find it.

look: 3.5 | smell: 4 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

Poured into shaker pint glass from the can.

A: Deep, rich brown pour with a finger of dark brown head that fades quickly leaving no lacing behind.
S: Chocolate, roasted barely, and a subtle sweetness and nuttiness.
T: Lots of roast, some smokiness, light chocolate and underlying sweet coconut. Coconut is very subtle and blends with the nuttiness and malt well.
M: Well carbonated, maybe a tad high. Smooth mouth feel with some lingering sweetness.
O: Very good representation of a style that I'd like to see more of. Could use a bit more coconut, but I'd rather it be subtle than overdone and cloying. This is a very palatable beer and I am glad I was able to pick up a 6er.
