22 oz bottle bought from Fred Meyer in N.Salem. $3.99 Pours a hazy golden with a very large frothy and thick off white head. Spicy rye aromas.with some caramel malts slight floral hop. OK Strong rye flavour also nice strong coriander..some malts and a wee bit of hop. Earthy bitterness in the end. Mouth feel is medium and carbonation medium high..nice. OK spring beer.

22oz : tulip pint

Clear, golden yellow with a fizzy, foamy white head with great retention.

The aroma is predominately spicy hops with a light nuttiness and bready malt backbone.

Medium body, foamy carbonation.

I was hoping for more rye character, but the spiciness strikes me more as a a hop character, which is pleasant, but not what I expected in the style.

Moderately fizzy on the tongue, but not much foam in the glass. Attractive hazy light yellow color in the tumbler. Creamy mouthfeel is quite pleasant.

Really smooth grainy taste with an intriguing bitter tang. Brewer says there is some coriander added, which fortunately I don't taste, so it must be just enough to provide the woody hint. Hops are Ultra.

Just enough sweetness to go with the sharp edge. Mellow and spicy. Really a perky and highly drinkable rye ale. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at 99 Bottles in Federal Way.

Appearance: Slightly aggressive pour gets one finger of creamy colored head that slowly fades to a film. Nice lacing. Deep gold with slight haze and some active carbonation.

Aroma: There’s a slight spice from the rye malt and a faint sweetness that is very fleeting. It really just smells like “regular” beer mostly.

Flavor: Follows the nose, regular sunny day beer. I’m not really getting the coriander unless it’s the strange, low grade astringency that I’m detecting. Slight spiciness from the rye malt and as it warms, maybe a hint of fruity esters and cashew.

Mouthfeel: light to low end medium in body. Smooth and light at first, then the spiciness of the rye and bitterness of the hops kick in for a dry finish.

Overall: I’m mixed on this one. The flavor was far more subdued than I’d hoped. For a summer session beer it could find its way into my rotation, but for the same price, there are other local rye beers that I might favor over this.
