A - Golden, two finger white head, quickly disappeared, extremely cloudy
S - Heavy raw grain musk masks more subtle aromas, slight barnyard funk, hint of citrus but no appreciable hop aroma
T - Sweet up front, followed by strong biscuity grain flavor, overwhelming tannins on swallow, lingering harsh unpleasant bitterness and rotten mash flavors
O - An extremely poor example of a NW IPA. I believe that this was a combination of over/hot sparging and a wild yeast infection. All in all this was not a pleasant experience. Two sips and the rest went down the drain.

Pours a thin head on a cloudy medium straw colored body.
The aroma is bright orange and mandarin smells.
The taste brings on a strong dry pine and lemon bitterness throughout and without let up.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
Bring on the hops!

Appearance: (3.5)
- Pours a nice light copper yellow with a slight bit of haze and dusty sediment in the brew. There wasn't much of a head to speak of, but there is a nice small ring and a light dusting above the brew.

Smell: (3.0)
- Nice light bready grain with a slight sweetness, some grassy and citrus hops. Some bitter earthiness and a slight vegetative aroma. There is just a very faint buttery diacetyl in the background. Not much though at all.

Taste: (3.5)
- Quite the grainy and bready malt profile with a nice bitterness. Grassy pine bitterness with a floral and somewhat citrus-like hop finish. Overall it is pretty good, and I think its bitterness is the highlight.

Mouth Feel: (4.0)
- This is a nice chewy bitter IPA. It is smooth, light to medium bodied, and well carbonated for a good drink. Nice lasting bitterness and dryness from the early boil hops.

Overall: (3.5)
- This beer is solid for the most part. The malt flavors are not up there for me though. Just a bit too much husky barley gym sock going on. The hops certainly make up a little for it though. I wish most IPA's were this bitter. I believe the 84 IBU assessment. I'd snag this on tap while at the pub, but most likely won't be buying bottles of it.

Hazy amber with a modest head and good lacings.
Smell is all malt.
Taste is bitter hops some floral a bit of grapefruit and pleny of sweet malts.
mouthfeel is medium, low carbonation, and a dry bitter finish.
Overall a decent IPA, plenty of hops, a good amount of malt support. Not an awesome IPA but better than average.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium coppery orange amber. Fine white one finger head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of bready malt and light fruit, only a hint of hops; not much going on here. Flavor is robust bready malt and stone fruit with an unusual very citrus component that slowly develops into a somewhat complex citrus and pine hops middle and finish, with lingering hops bitterness. This is not an intense hops-in-your-face start that I'm used to from NW IPAs. I'm a fan of malty IPAs and although I found this one a bit tame at first, I grew to like it quite a bit as I drank. The mouth feel is quite nice, heavy bodied and creamy. An unusual take on an IPA that I think is a winner. I'm definitely going to try the oatmeal pale ale that has arrived on the local market too.

22oz bottle from Roth’s Sunnyslope Market in S.Salem. $4.99 Typical IPA in looks, bronzy-orange ale with a dirty white head. A very "beery" aroma..malty but with bustling floral and citric hoppiness. Quite balanced to begin with with caramel malts adding heft..then as it progresses over the tongue a huge earthy, hop bitterness takes over..trails off to a lingering pleasing after taste. Nice mouthfeel complex. Nice IPA stands out a wee bit from the Oregon IPA crowd.
