Poured into pint glass during Portland Mighty Mites small beer festival~
I am unsure what category to place this, but German Gose is the closest style. This is a beer made with 600 pounds of hand smoked white wheat over applewood and mesquite. An interesting style gaining some fans in Portland (myself included).
Pours a hazy, thick, pale tan hue with a good head that persists and fine lace. Gorgeous color, really nice.
Very richly aromatic with the grain, smoke, and toast aromas up front, some light fruit backing, mainly a hint of banana, some spice, really nice. On the palate it is softer and more steamlined with light and clean flavors focused on the wheat with a hint of smoke and toast. Finishes nicely with good balance.
Overall a very interesting, very good quality beer. I am intrigued by this style of beer and hope to try other brewers' versions in the future. Bravo!

Served in bubble pint glass. Poured a cloudy yellow color with about an inch of white head that had good retention and lacing.
The aroma had a softly noticeable wheat aroma with just a bit of hops apparent. I didn't pick up any of the smoke the brewery says this brew gets from hand smoking the grain. The flavors were pretty much the same, a nicely solid grain taste with just enough hops for seasoning.
The body was good, clean, smooth and had a dry finish. Drinkability was very good, I'm gonna go hit this as long as the keg lasts. Overall a pretty good beer. I don't know if the brewery considers this to be a Gose as listed here, I didn't taste any of the salt a Gose is supposed to have, but this is a fine beer that's certainly worth your time if you see it.
