Here in the land of eternal sunshine, it can be difficult to differentiate between seasons. Palm tree fronds don’t change color and fall to the sand, though the mercury does drop a few degrees, it’s still as paradisiacal as Southern California lore would have you believe. So, from now on, count on this imperial pumpkin ale heralding in the fall season. Brewed with brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and a heaping helping of would be jack-o-lanterns, Punk’In Drublic delivers autumn’s trademark flavors along with a hint of West Coast character, whether enjoyed in a pumpkin patch or on the beach.

September 22nd, 2015 - Beer season approaches, and I open it this year with this little gem from Coronado. For $5 I get a bomber of appreciably good pumpkin beer. A dark orange and amber in color, it has a sweet aroma even for a pumpkin ale, and emphasizes more orange, cranberry and sour cherry than it does pumpkin. A thinner body and a lower carbonation is a bit underwhelming but it gives more room for a real crazy flavor. Up and down, it ranges from spicy pumpkin pulp to sour cherries and back again. It's a unique and interesting combination, and I doubt I'll ever meet this much sour cherry flavor in a pumpkin beer again, though the acidity refuses to meld with the pumpkin flavor, wresting control.

If you're looking for a real pumpkin ale made with real pumpkins and taste without too many spices...this is it. My favorite fall brew.

On tap. Smells like a pumpkin beer, nutmeg and cinamon. This one bombs in the taste. It comes with something flowery that I can't finger. Just very odd. Feel is fine and the abv is well hidden. Overall I can't get past the taste. One and done for me.
Edit to add I forgot this was brandy BBA. I did get a vinuous thing initially, forgot to note

Dark, stronger malts than many pumpkins, less alcohol in the taste for a high abv. The pumpkin flavor, the blend of spices is balanced, nothing yelling out in this one. This is run of the mill pumpkin ale with a higher abv and malt, certainly more brown sugar. Worthy.

Just like every other pumpkin ale, it falls short in any real taste. On tap at the brewery. It looks decent, but that's about it. No pumpkin aroma and a very faint pumpkin taste, if that's what you can call it. Bottle logic "Picture if you will" was amazing. Spot on with flavors.
